Thought I’d do a little before and after on this job just to clarify a couple of things.
The owner of this car received a quote from a bigger insurance approved bodyshop for £2900 +vat.

I’m seeing this a lot lately, and unfortunately sometimes people will get a quote from a bigger bodyshop and because it is too high they go through their insurance without realising there are smaller businesses around who can give them more options.

Now I’m not going to jump in and call the bigger bodyshops rip offs etc because they are not… the reason their quote was much higher than mine was down to a couple of reasons.

1- they will have priced to supply and weld in a new rear quarter panel which involves a lot of work… glass out, interior out a re spray of the rear and complete side, new trims & badges etc.

2- they have higher running costs… like premesis, staff etc.

I gave the customer the opportunity to have the panel replaced…. But I also gave the option of having the dents pulled out and re spray the side.

My point here is don’t immediately jump to going through your insurance just because one big corporate bodyshop gave you a high price. And this goes for all trades not just mine…. Use your local tradesmen
