I am absolutely delighted to share that Teenie Tots Childminding has received all 5s (which is very goods) following my recent inspection from the Care Inspectorate, an achievement which reflects a very high standard of childcare and support being delivered.

This is something I am incredibly proud of, both professionally and personally. Running my childminding business while also juggling life with our own two boys has been challenging at times, so receiving such positive feedback and recognition means so much to me. It truly makes all of the hard work, dedication and love that goes into Teenie Tots worthwhile.

I feel extremely lucky to spend my days watching the children in my care grow, learn, play and feel safe while doing so not only together but with our two boys aswell and I want to say a huge thank you to all of my amazing parents and children who are part of the Teenie Tots family.

Your continued trust, support and encouragement means the world to me. Creating a warm, nurturing, safe and fun environment where children feel happy, valued and supported has always been at the heart of everything I do and I am so proud that this has been recognised through my inspection results.

A copy of the report will be available soon for you to look at and read. 😊

Thank you again to everyone who supports Teenie Tots Childminding. I look forward to continuing to provide a high quality of care for all of my little ones I look after here everyday. 🤍

A well-known study from Natural Resources Institute Finland, published in Science Advances, investigated how nature-based playgrounds affect children’s health. In this 28-day experiment, researchers modified urban daycare yards by adding forest soil, grass, and plants, and observed around 75 children aged 3–5. Compared to children playing in standard urban environments (with gravel or artificial surfaces), those exposed to natural materials showed a noticeable increase in the diversity of beneficial microbes on their skin and in their gut.

These microbial changes were linked to improvements in immune system function, including higher levels of immune-regulating cells such as T-cells and better balance in immune responses. However, the study did not claim a dramatic or instant “boost” in overall health; instead, it showed early signs of improved immune regulation, which may help protect against inflammatory and autoimmune conditions over time. The findings suggest that regular contact with natural environments can play an important role in supporting children’s developing immune systems.
