🚐 FIAT Motorhome recovered from France 🇫🇷

This motorhome owner contacted us after an unfortunate breakdown while on holiday in France. With the vehicle unable to be repaired abroad, it was recovered back to us at SM Autotech so we could get to the bottom of the problem.

Our diagnostic scan showed a fault with the injector supply circuit. After carrying out a series of wiring tests and checks, we confirmed that the engine ECU had an internal fault.

We supplied and programmed a replacement engine ECU, getting the motorhome back up and running and, most importantly, back on the road. 🔧

Another fault diagnosed and repaired by the team at SM Autotech.

🚐 VAN MECHANIC WANTED – SM AUTOTECH

Due to continued growth, SM Autotech is looking for a reliable and motivated Van Mechanic to join our team.

We’re looking for someone with experience working on vans or commercial vehicles, or someone with a good foundation of mechanical knowledge who is keen to learn, develop and progress within the trade.

🔧 The ideal candidate:

• Experience working on vans/commercial vehicles is preferred
• Good general mechanical knowledge
• Reliable, hardworking and takes pride in their work
• Good attention to detail
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Willing to learn and develop new skills
• Positive attitude and a genuine interest in the motor trade
• Previous workshop experience preferred, but the right attitude is just as important as experience

🛠️ The role will include:

• Servicing and maintenance of vans and commercial vehicles
• Mechanical repairs and fault finding
• Diagnostics and electrical fault finding
• Routine inspections and maintenance
• Working safely and efficiently to a high standard
• Developing your mechanical and diagnostic skills

🔧 A few standout jobs in the workshop this week at SM Autotech!

We’ve had a Transit Custom in for a full engine replacement, getting it back up and running smoothly.

Another 2.0 Transit came in for an injector replacement — this one needed the injector puller tool to remove it safely without causing damage.

And we also carried out a timing belt replacement on an Iveco Daily. Staying on top of timing belt intervals is crucial on these vans to avoid costly engine damage, so if yours is due, we can get you sorted.
