Keep Your Car Happy: Tire Health Matters
Your tires are literally where the rubber meets the road. Here's how to keep them in top shape:
CHECK PRESSURE MONTHLY
Cold weather and time naturally lower tire pressure. Underinflated tires wear faster, reduce fuel efficiency, and affect handling. Find the correct PSI on your driver's side door frame or owner's manual. Check pressure when tires are cold (before driving or at least 3 hours after).
INSPECT TREAD DEPTH
Worn tires are dangerous, especially in wet Scottish weather. Use the penny test: insert a penny into the tread with Lincoln's head upside down. If you can see the top of his head, your tread is too worn—time for new tires. Legal minimum is 1.6mm, but we recommend replacing at 3mm for safety.
LOOK FOR DAMAGE
Check for cuts, bulges, or punctures. Even small damage can become dangerous. If you spot anything concerning, get it checked before driving further.
ROTATE REGULARLY
Tire rotation every 5,000-8,000 miles helps them wear evenly and last longer. Ask us about our rotation service.
ALIGNMENT MATTERS
Misaligned wheels cause uneven tire wear and affect handling. If your car pulls to one side or tires wear unevenly, get an alignment check.
Pro Tip: Good tires = better safety, better fuel economy, and longer tire life. It's worth the investment!
