Chapter 13 (&14) - Back to the future 🥺
Today sees the last day of the jolly to the Arctic Circle. Leaving Hamburg, the motorway beckons... we did a couple of off piste routes and managed to some pretty boring German roads, so back on the autobahn to munch a few more miles. Along the way, there's Arnham, not too far off the beaten track and worthy of a visit to see THE bridge made famous in the war film, A Bridge Too Far. A great stop and an ideal place to get 'ferry ready' to save time later - or so we thought.
If you're inspired into venturing across to mainland Europe, be aware that the passport control / custome process will take for ever.... I think I might still be in the queue 🤔...
The ferry crossing went without a hitch and the food and accommodation was great.....
I'd like to thank Martin & James for the great times, routes and banter 👍.
We've seen loads of fantastic views, ridden some of the finest roads Scandinavia has to offer and got wetter than an otters pocket!

Chapter 12 - Road to Nowhere
What a muncher today has been. We left the campsite in sunshine with a smattering of cloud. We decided to bang in some motorway miles with some normal roads in the middle. By 11am hunger was gnawing us to the bone and we found a nice looking cafe.
Top tip of the day: Check the door of the cafe actually opens BEFORE taking off your lid, gloves, boil-in-the-bag oversuit etc etc.
After a couple of stops for fuel, rest & to put waterproofs on, we hit the motorway to Germany. Thats when it happened again... 🌧🌧🌧 and down the Autobahn... meh.
Good to see motorcycle only parking bays - and long enough for most long forked bad ass choppers too😁.
With petrol hitting almost 3eu/l you best bring a credit card 😱. At least the trucks raise a smile on the road!
Hamburg is (probably) a wonderful city. We rode round it 4 years ago and the roadworks were appalling... take note readers, they're still here! Its not even a new underpass😁.
We arrived with enough time to nip out for some food. There was a McDonald's with my name on it - you can't go to Hamburg and not have a hamburger eh???
Up early in the morning for the last leg to Rottendam for the ferry back to blighty..... 😳😥😢😭😭

Day 11 - The Long Way back
A glorious start to the day as we headed south from Oslo(ish) down towards Sweden (again). This time it's to catch the ferry from Gothenburg to Denmark. Yes, that's 3 countries in 1 day💪💪💪.
We crossed the border into Sweden, which looked like an abandoned film plot from a war movie and headed south. We had plenty plus time today, so even the road closure wasn't the biggest problem. It wasn't the gravel roads we had taken as our detour route - think: Dalby Forrest. We hadn't bothered looking to deeply at the weather but it still came as a bit of a surprise that for the last 2hrs the rain was as hard as it was relentless. Typical that it stopped raining as we embarked the ferry⛴️...
Chugging downstream we passed under another mini Humber Bridge.... 45m clearance and I thought we were going to scrape the underneath.
Tonight's selected accommodation is another shed - oops cabin. They love them over here and this lil jobby was £66... thats £22 each!!!!!! Bargain
I cant believe were so close to the winning post ALREADY 😭😭😭
Here's to loads of motorway riding tomorrow to drop us in Germany somewhere....

Episode 10 - bring it back
It sure was a slog today (😉) to get us down Norway, almost as far as Oslo. The weather was mostly dry, with a break in the clouds to turn into a lovely sunny day.
Some of todays pics are from the beautiful capital city, Oslo, where you will the Munch Museum, dedicated to the artist famous for his painting, the Scream (😱)
A question you're probably wondering about is: how much is petrol abroad Captain Slog?
The simple answer is £1.50/l give or take a bit.
We have been debating this trip as to the best value touring kit. My money is on Foam Over-grips. They add a comfort layer to kill vibration, smooth out twitches from the bars, reduce fatigue and make for a much more pleasant ride. They're available from the good lads at Into Gear for less than a tenner. I guarantee 💯 that this will jot be the worst £10 you spend this year.....
It's another long one tomorrow to catch yet another ferry, this time from Sweden to Denmark...

What a grotty day to do a 300 miler. Loads of rain - pretty much all day. Mad that you can go round a corner and it's dry.... Scotland anyone? 😂
Quick nip on a ferry early doors saw a Goldwing with not 1 - 2 Roll bags.. and he was riding solo. Each man to his own. The Guy on the Scrambler had a pillion (the Mrs?)... and a neat glove trick (not sure if it was to dry them or warm them up😁).
We bagged a ve ve posh kipover tonight with the best shower EVER, and lovely views over the lake.... £120.
Safe bike parking, fully equipped kitchen and 3 bedrooms.... no snoring tonight 😎.
Loved the mini Millou Viaduct too - Bonus.
