Everyone seems to like to see the drift car work and the personal s13 build, so here’s some recent work we’ve been upto!👀
Good customer of ours recently purchased this BMW E46 Compact drift car, fitted with a 3uz v8! This is a ready to go competition car that we know very well because the previous owner is a good friend that we pit for in Driftleague GB! In for some changes to suit the new driver of the car, we custom fabricated new drivers seat mount to get the customer seated comfortably in the car, fitted a new sparco bucket seat, new harnesses, fabricated a gearbox tunnel mount to install a new gear shifter and different hydro handbrake. With this done, we made up some new brake lines to the hydro, bled the system and that was a job ticked off! We then diverted attention to the engine bay, the power steering reservoir wasn’t quite secure, so we tapped a thread and using the same bracket, made sure it was secure and not able to come loose! Customer left all ready for his practise day at Teeside on bank holiday which we will attend to help set the car up for his driving style!🚗
Onto the Nissan, I made some good progress! Cut the front tube section, mounted the new coolant radiator and re-made the front tube section meaning we could lean the radiator further forward for better clearance! With this done, we made some cardboard templates and created some brackets using 3mm plate to secure the radiator to the front section - all this will be painted ones fabrication of the car is done. We then made our gearbox tunnel shifter & hydro plate, using some 4mm plate, again using a cardboard template we fabbed up exactly what we needed and got it seam welded to the tunnel, this is strong now! Then the fun job of completely stripping the interior ready for primer and paint. Previously someone had used ‘raptor’ which for those who know is very good hard wearing coating, however on this occasion the textured rough look and feel is not what we wanted, so back to bare metal and ready for paint! We also finished off the underside, got the rear subframe all build back up and back in, fuel tank cleaned and reinstalled, fuel lines made and routed, brake lines made and ran. Good progress! ⚙️
Bit different to usual posts but everyone seems to like seeing the drift car things we do, and it’s a good place for me to document the work done on our personal car!
