⚠️ Hidden Damage You Can’t See… Until It’s Too Late.
We’re seeing an increasing number of BMW B47 diesel engines arriving at the workshop with multiple faults that remain unexplained, the cause usually remains hidden.
The culprit? A sensor on the low pressure fuel pipe.
When this sensor fails, diesel at approximately 3 bar is forced into the engine wiring loom. Rather than simply leaking externally, the fuel travels through the wiring loom by capillary action, contaminating everything it reaches.
This results in diesel entering:
✔️ Engine wiring harness
✔️ Multiple engine sensors
✔️ Connectors throughout the loom
✔️ The engine ECU itself
The result is often a vehicle suffering from multiple random fault codes, intermittent electrical issues, poor running, limp mode, and faults that seem impossible to diagnose. Replacing sensors without finding the root cause simply won’t solve the problem.
As these B47-powered BMWs continue to age, we’re seeing this failure more and more frequently, making early diagnosis increasingly important. Left unchecked, what starts as a relatively simple sensor issue can quickly become an expensive repair involving wiring harnesses, sensors and ECU replacement.
At JD Garage & Performance Centre LTD, we have the experience and diagnostic equipment to identify this fault correctly, inspect for fuel contamination throughout the wiring system, and carry out the necessary repairs before further damage occurs.
If your B47 BMW is displaying unexplained engine management lights, multiple unrelated fault codes, or intermittent electrical problems, don’t ignore the warning signs.
