Our lovely Josh is 25 today!! 🎉

Resident baker and receptionist, Aimee, made a special birthday cake and, as you can see, the boys approve 😋

Josh started with us as an Apprentice when he was just 16 and has come on leaps and bounds. He is now our Diagnostic Technician in Hunstanton and continues to grow every day.

Have you heard the latest MOT testing news?

The Independent Garage Association (IGA) is campaigning for the government to increase the MOT fee cap to at least £95.

The maximum a garage can charge for a standard MOT test has been capped at £54.85 since 2010. Despite the vast economic changes we've seen in the last 16 years, the IGA is still battling with the government to increase this cap to make things fairer for independent garages. The cost of running a garage and carrying out an MOT has risen like everything else - the MOT testing fee cap has remained the same.

The MOT fee cap increasing doesn't necessarily mean your local garage is going to charge you more. It just means they can raise their prices a bit more if necessary to cover MOT testing slot fees, experienced staff labour, MOT ramp calibration and maintenance and annual assessments for testers.

The IGA says: "Our members are telling us that they are reaching the point where they can no longer absorb these rising costs and still make MOT testing commercially viable."

“Every month that passes without action increases the pressure on the businesses delivering this essential service. We now need Government to recognise the urgency of the situation and engage with us directly on how it will be resolved.”

The IGA believes that addressing this fee cap will help struggling independent garages (of which there are unfortunately many!) manage the growing financial pressures they face.

❌ **MYTH: “My car passed its MOT, so I don't need to service it.”**

An MOT and a service actually do two very different jobs.

🚗 **Your MOT** checks whether your vehicle meets minimum legal roadworthiness and environmental standards at the time of the test.

🔧 **Your service** is about maintaining the vehicle — checking its condition, replacing service items when required and spotting wear or developing problems before they potentially become bigger ones.

So a fresh MOT certificate doesn't necessarily mean your car doesn't need a service.

Think of it this way: **an MOT checks. A service maintains.**

🍂 **Is your car ready for autumn?**

Well… here’s what we were talking about. 👇

Walnut blasting.🌰

Over time, carbon can build up inside your engine and restrict airflow, which can affect how the car runs and feels.

Walnut blasting is basically a deep clean for the engine. We use tiny pieces of walnut shell and compressed air to gently remove that stubborn carbon build-up, leaving everything much cleaner.

The result? 🚗💨

✅ Cleaner valves
✅ Better airflow
✅ Smoother running
✅ Improved throttle response

And don’t worry — despite the name, we’re not throwing whole walnuts into your engine! 😂🌰
