We are currently getting loads of calls from customers, all with the same question ‘why are the test waiting times so long?

There are many reasons for this but firstly can we be clear DO NOT BLAME THE EXAMINERS, they have not caused the problem!

The initial problem was a lack of examiners following COVID (a long time ago now) but we lost some examiners then and there was obviously a big backlog as a result.

Apps then appeared selling tests a hugely inflated prices and people were grabbing tests anywhere in the country only to find there were no instructors available wasting valuable test slots.

The current changes to the rules to stop this have caused even more problems with everyone going online at 6am on a Monday to find they are 140,000 in the queue and more often than not the tests are all gone by the time you get your chance.

We get approached so many times by complete strangers wanting to use our car for an hour before the test and then to take their test in our cars. None of us will risk this and so again these tests go to waste!

Worse still some come up in their own cars being nowhere near ready for a test and the poor old examiners (not actually saying they are old) has to risk life and limb without any dual-controls! Honestly who would want to do this and I take my hat off to them!

The crazy thing is I now recommend to all my customers they use an app to help find an earlier test slot (the very thing the DVSA were trying to stop) but here again is an issue. The app finds an earlier test and holds it for 15 minutes to check the instructor is free but instructors are not allowed to touch their phones while teaching so how can we confirm?

If you have an automatic licence and wish to get a manual test then it will be almost impossible with the current system so good luck with that one!

So in short please understand the issues and when booking a test please make sure you can actually take it and stand a good chance of passing, all of which will help to eventually reduce the waiting times!

Intensive courses have been hit hard recently by the changes to driving test bookings. Generally people now seem to believe there is no point in doing an intensive course with the long wait for a driving test.

In fact most weeks tests are popping up at fairly short notice here in Kings Lynn but you need to be near test ready!

Doing a course with us will allow you to do just that and pass in weeks not months!

The new rules regarding booking a practical driving test may seem like there is little point in doing an intensive course, so what should you do if you want to pass your driving test quickly?

Well just recently there were lots of short notice tests come up but sadly there was not enough time to fit an intensive course in so it was not an option.

It therefore makes a lot of sense in get ‘test ready’ or there about by doing an intensive course with us and then keep looking for a test to come up.

Or you could just do what most people are currently doing and grab the test then keep phoning up every instructor in the hope they are free as is happens so often. Usually it does not go well and you have simply wasted your money and made the waiting time for tests even longer!

The way to book driving tests has changed but there is still some good reasons to book an intensive driving course with us.

1. If you want to pass your test quickly you may wish to get yourself near test standard first so you can grab a short notice test when otherwise we could not fit a full course in. Several people have missed out recently for this very reason!

2. Reduced course pressure as there is no deadline to be test ready at the end of your course making the whole experience more enjoyable!

3. Tailored learning- you can now fine tune the lessons to match your ability so you are more likely to pass first time, it could even save you money in the long run!

We are trying to raise the profile of the function hall at the King’s Lynn Masonic Centre. It is a great hall that is under new management and we want people to know that it is available for anyone to hire. It is perfect for functions of any kind especially weddings and wakes as it even has its own temple which is also available to hire.
