Thinking of having a Ghost immobiliser installed? Choose your installer VERY carefully ⚠️
We recently had this GR Yaris booked in for our Stage 1 tuning package along with a Wagner intercooler upgrade.
Straight away, alarm bells were ringing…
The customer provided the Ghost code, but the car would only recognise the key if it was held directly against the start button — a clear sign something wasn’t right.
As part of our normal process, we carried out baseline dyno runs and vehicle health checks BEFORE any tuning work began. After just a couple of runs, the car suddenly lost communication with multiple control units and wouldn’t start at all.
Further investigation pointed towards the Ghost system malfunctioning… so it was time to locate the install.
What we found was shocking.
❌ No soldering
❌ No connectors of any sorts
❌ No proper loom integration
❌ Wires simply twisted onto factory wiring
❌ Wrapped poorly in insulation tape
❌ Bare wiring shorting against each other
This is not only unacceptable workmanship — it’s dangerous.
We then had to fully remove the system, repair the damaged factory wiring loom correctly, re-insulate everything and restore communication to the vehicle before any performance work could continue.
We don’t know who installed this particular system, but this is exactly why choosing the cheapest or quickest installer can end up costing far more in the long run.
Quality workmanship matters. Your car deserves better. 👊
