Booking your driving test? Make sure you’re doing it the right way. ✅

Since 12 May, it has been against the law for anyone but the learner driver to book a driving test. Using unofficial apps, bots or automated tools also breaks the terms and conditions of our booking service.

We've already cancelled 450 tests where tests have been booked outside the new rules – and we're continuing to monitor activity closely. 💪

If misuse of the booking system is identified, we can cancel your booking and suspend your ability to manage your test online.

Our priority is to make the system fair for every learner and to stop you being exploited by third parties. The only way to book and manage a test is through GOV.UK. 💻

Huge congratulations to Jobie Gohegan, for a fantastic 1st time pass today with only 2 d/f. You’ve worked so hard the last couple of weeks, and today it showed in your result. Huge congratulations to Melissa Roe on passing your driving test today with only 1 d/f. You was always a very confident learner, until recently you lost that confidence. But today you got it back, and proved to yourself that you could do it. Brilliant result. It was an absolute pleasure to teach you, as you always listened well and just got on with it. Well, my very last test in this car before I get my new one, and what a way to end. Huge congratulations to Alanas for passing your driving test today first time with only 3d/f. What a fantastic drive and some great comments from the examiner. You have listened well mate and fully deserve that licence. Now you can fully relax after getting all your uni work finished, and your test done and dusted.
Now to go car shopping.

📢 Remember that from tomorrow (31 March), you will only be able to make 2 changes to a car driving test booking.

A change counts as:
✅ changing the date or time
✅ changing the test centre
✅ swapping your appointment with another learner who has a test booked

If you need to make more changes after you have used your 2 changes, you will need to cancel your test and book a new one.

Do you know what to look for when choosing a driving instructor?

🚗 Approved driving instructors (ADIs) and trainee driving instructors must display a certificate in the windscreen of their vehicle when they are providing paid instruction.

They display:
🟢 a green certificate if they’re a fully qualified driving instructor
🩷 a pink certificate if they’re a trainee and are going through the qualification process

Another first time pass. Massive congratulations to Emily Bloxham on passing your driving test this morning. Even though you got me out of bed early, it was well worth it. You have listened well over the last few weeks, and you were so determined to get your license, and now you’ve done it. So proud of you. Some nice comments from the examiner.
