I've been writing this post since Monday morning, editing, deleting and re-writing it all over again...and now here we are, just 48 hours away from closing the doors of our beloved business, R.D Autos Ltd; it all just feels so surreal.

Both Rob and I are truly overwhelmed by all the kind and heartfelt messages/comments that we've received since making our announcement on 9th June, and even more so for the cards and gifts that have been brought in to the office over the past few weeks; we are quite simply, so grateful to you all 💕

I can honestly say that we are now both looking forward to a little downtime once the unit has been sorted, being able to enjoy all the simple things in life that we've not had time to do whilst running our business.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all again for all of your loyal custom over the years; we wouldn't have been able to do it without you.

And as a special note to my amazing husband, Rob;

I watch you work tirelessly day in, day out, doing your absolute upmost to ensure your customers are on the road safely, quickly and without being ripped off.

The work behind the scenes to ensure that the best prices are found for parts, the sometimes lengthy diagnostic and back-breaking repair work of complex faults is what makes you stand out from all the rest - an honest, hard working tradesman.

You are the reason why R.D Autos is the success it is today.

**** ANNOUNCEMENT ****

It's with heavy hearts and great sadness that we (Rob and Trace) must reluctantly announce that RD Autos Ltd will be closing it's doors on Friday 4th August 2023

This has been an agonising and absolutely gut-wrenching decision for us, namely brought about by the ongoing sale of the unit in Lisle Avenue which we've rented for the last 14 years. Sadly we have been unable to secure a suitable lease with the current landlord.

We know that this news will no doubt shock and upset many of our wonderfully loyal customers; and with the closure fast approaching, we hope you understand that there will be very limited availability and we may not be able to accommodate all servicing and repair requests.

Once the doors have been shut in Lisle Avenue we will be taking some time out together to reflect, digest, recuperate and decide what the future holds for us and RD Autos Ltd moving forward.

We must take this opportunity to thank the entire RD Autos family, past and present, but particularly those seeing it through to the end (Andy and our workshop/MOT test Manager Mark who's been with us for 21 years).

And finally to you all...our amazing customers! Thank you for helping make RD Autos Ltd the success it is today through your recommendations and repeat business year in year out - it's the thought of disappointing you all which really hurts us the most.

✨R.D Auto's is hiring now✨

We have a vacancy for a Level 2/3 Qualified Trainee in the Repair & Servicing of Road Vehicles, City & Guilds 383, looking to gain hands on Workshop experience.

The ideal candidate would be prepared to work in busy workshop under supervision and when competent, using own initiative to complete tasks. The candidate will be keen to learn, listen to instructions and assist in keeping this busy workshop clean and free from debris.

Details of type of work to be undertaken includes - Tyre fitting, Brake replacement, Servicing, Clutch replacement, Suspension, Diagnostics etc.

R.D Auto's is an established vehicle repair & MOT Testing Centre based in Kidderminster and the large workshop benefits from being heated for those colder months.

A Full clean Driving license would be advantage but not essential.
Salary and hours negotiable depending on age and experience.
Holiday pay and access to company pension scheme.

We remain open and operate within Covid Guidance rules. Social distancing is in place and our Reception now has an Electric Door Control, so that we can ensure a strict limit on Customer's entering to ensure safety is maintained. On arrival keys and car sanitising takes place before vehicles are brought into the workshop. Disposable seat covers and mats are used and sanitising wipes are used to wipe controls and steering wheel etc. We appreciate your patience during these difficult times especially where waiting for vehicles is concerned but safety is of paramount importance.

Heating problems!!

This Seat come into the garage with intermittent loss of heat coming through the heater, turns out the fault was caused by somebody previously fitting a stop leak solution to attempt a "quick fix" to a water leak 🙈
Resulting in the entire dashboard and heater having to be removed, heater matrix replaced and a flush to the cooling system.

The car is now lovely and warm 😁

I was a bit confused when the customer said they had a sticking exhaust (turned out to be a stick in the exhaust)
