With a free week coming up for our U14s, we hosted Enville Athletic at Mill Lane on Saturday - hoping to go into the break unbeaten.
We didn't know too much about the opposition but we were expecting a good technical and physical team and that is exactly what we got.
It was a pretty even start, but we reduced them to just one shot on target in the first 15-20 minutes - unfortunately that led them to taking a 1-0 lead after a great finish from their striker who was a handful all game.
As always our Swans showed character and resilience and quickly found an equaliser from our newest signing who was leading the line well after coming off the bench.
The second half was alot of the same. We were the better team, playing really good football in parts and every player was battling for the shirt.
Our new signing helped himself to a second goal of the game and could have got a hat trick with another good chance towards the end which went narrowly wide.
At 2-1, we were backs to the wall and battling for every ball. A while back this team would have crumbled under the pressure, but they have come so far together and as previously this season they saw out a narrow victory with some resolute defending.
It's five wins from five games and the boys are going into our week off buzzing.
Parents' Player of the Match went to our new striker who linked up well with others, got himself a couple of goals and worked hard for the team.
Coaches' Player of the Match went to a defender who, apart from a blip for their goal, was solid throughout. Their striker was a good player and a handful but our defender dealt with him very well.
