Say hi to "Bodger" we don't know why its got a male name but here we are.

🔧 VEHICLE TECHNICIAN / MECHANIC WANTED 🔧

The Motor Hive is growing again, and we’re looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join our workshop team in Keighley.

We specialise in Jaguar & Land Rover, so this isn’t a job made up entirely of oil changes and brake pads. Our workload ranges from routine servicing and diagnostics through to timing chains, major mechanical repairs, engine work and full engine rebuilds.

If you’re a capable technician who enjoys actually fixing cars, we’d like to hear from you.

💷 Salary: Up to £40,000 per year, depending on experience and ability
📅 Monday–Friday
⏰ 8:30am–5:30pm
🌴 28 days annual leave
🚫 No weekends

🔧 The job

You’ll be working on a varied mix of mechanical work, including:

• Routine servicing and maintenance
• Diagnostics and fault finding
• Brakes, suspension and steering
• Timing belts and timing chains
• Clutches and drivetrain repairs
• Major mechanical repairs
• Engine repairs and engine rebuilds
• More involved diagnostic and mechanical jobs

We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of a job, work methodically and get it completed properly.

👨‍🔧 Who we’re looking for

Ideally, you’ll be a Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technician, although we’ll absolutely consider a strong Level 2 technician with the right experience and ability.

Jaguar Land Rover experience would be a major advantage, but it isn’t essential. If you’re mechanically strong, willing to learn and comfortable tackling more involved jobs, we can teach you the JLR-specific side.

More important to us is that you are:

✔️ A genuinely capable mechanic
✔️ Confident working independently
✔️ Good at fault finding rather than simply changing parts
✔️ Comfortable with both routine work and major repairs
✔️ Able to work efficiently to sensible job times without sacrificing quality
✔️ Reliable and organised
✔️ Someone who takes pride in the standard of work leaving their ramp
✔️ A team player who can have a laugh while still getting the job done

Happy belated 3rd birthday to us!! 🎉

We’d been hoping to put some pictures up of the upcoming garage makeover, but time has ploughed on, the ground hasn’t even been broken yet…
…but we’ve mainly paid for it all, so that’s basically the important bit.

So, what’s coming?

4-wheel alignment. At long sodding last.

No more sending cars elsewhere, waiting around, dealing with third-party incompetence, taking cars back, wasting time and generally wondering why we bothered.

Apparently, “it’s in the green” is considered an acceptable answer.

It isn’t.

Cars drive in circles.
“Yeah, but it’s in the green.”

…No.
If we’re doing it, we want it right. Not technically somewhere inside a green rectangle right.
So, all but one of the ramps have to move around to fit the new bit of kit in like ridiculous game of Tetris and hopefully by the end of the month we’ll be doing our own alignments from start to finish.
And that’ll be another box ticked.
The original plan was to build a fully self-sufficient garage, and just over three years in, we’re pretty much there.
The only thing we can’t have is our own MOT lane, purely because these premises won’t allow it.
Other than that…
We bloody built the thing.

Here’s to the next three years (where we won't be needing to spend all our money)
