If you need to make an emergency stop when your tyre tread is low, chances are you’ll hit what’s in front of you. ⚠️

But you CAN check your tyre tread at home.

Here’s how:

1. Turn your steering wheel so you can see the tread clearly.
2. Insert a 20p coin into the main grooves.
3. If the outer band of the coin is hidden, your tread is fine.
4. If you can see the outer band, your tyres may be unsafe.
5. Repeat on all four tyres.

Healthy tyres should have tread deep enough to grip the road safely and stop your car in an emergency.
