It's turning into a very successful half term week! Two more fabulous first-time passes. 🥇🥇

Very different weather conditions though! First, Will on Friday had to deal with darkness, rain and very gusty winds at 7am as the storm rolled in, but handled it like a pro! ⛈️☔️🌃

Then Sofia took full advantage of the lovely sunshine to sail through her test yesterday. ☀️🚗

That's four years of driving lessons and 121 practical test passes completed - and straight on to the next four! Just received my renewed ADI licence, and can't wait to keep the successes rolling! 😎

A really interesting and inspiring day at the ADINJC Intelligent Instructor Conference today.

I had the opportunity to listen to some really thought provoking talks from key figures within the driver training industry, learn more about some things that are changing and evolving, and obviously pick up as many freebies as possible from the many great exhibitors!

I take my job very seriously, and I'm never going to stand still when it comes to my own personal standards and development. I will always work to make sure that every one of my pupils receives the highest standard of service that I can deliver.

Say hello to the brand new car!

Skoda Kamiq Monte Carlo ⬛️🟧

It's got an incredible spec including heated seats and steering wheel (perfect for heading into the winter months!), panoramic glass roof and a reversing camera - although I'll still be making sure you're can all park without needing it! 😉

Already had a few pupils out in it, and they all love it.

Another first today: A Sunday morning test! When Harvey told me his test booking, I got him to triple check - I didn't even know Ipswich test centre were doing Sunday tests!

And a great result this morning in some very wet conditions. Congratulations to Harvey on a drive where, in the examiner's words he "barely put a foot wrong".

And for all of you out there who may be looking for a driving test over the next few months, Sunday tests are great news! As with any weekend or bank holiday booking, the fee is £75 rather than the standard £62 - small change in the grand scheme of things.

The latest additions to Monday Club! And this is a new one: Both passed on the same day at exactly the same time! 😎

Now, unfortunately I haven't suddenly discovered a way to warp time and space: Isabella took the test in her own car, while Lewis took his in mine.

Two incredible results for two lovely individuals with just 3 driving faults between them. I've loved teaching both, and it's really sad to have to say goodbye to them on the same day - but it was also amazing to celebrate their successes at the same time in the car park!

Don't use any test finder or cancellation apps! The only way to find a driving test is through the GOV.UK website by logging in yourself.

Orwell Bridge on the A14 pretty much every day? 🤔

This is the cause! 🤦‍♂️

🕑 Keep a 2 second gap, don't tailgate.
❌️ No harsh or sudden braking.
⏩️ Aim to maintain your speed steadily.

⬆️ As you're going uphill onto the bridge, aim to not let your speed dip if the traffic ahead allows. If you slow down, everyone behind you has to as well!

The public deserve to know how the car driving test service is really performing 🔍.

Today, we've published detailed data on driving test waiting times on GOV.UK and we’ll continue to share this each month.

This includes:

⏱️the actual average waiting time between booking and taking a driving test

📅the total number of appointments that DVSA has made available over the next 24 weeks of the booking window

📈 the percentage of tests that are still available to book in the booking window

🔟the number of weeks until at least 10% of weekly test appointments at a centre are still available to book (currently referred to as the ‘average waiting time’)

✅We’re doing this because the National Audit Office said our data should more accurately show the experience of learner drivers.

💪This work builds on the action we've already been taking. Since June 2025, we've conducted close to a quarter of a million extra car driving tests — and changes to the booking system now mean it's against the law for third parties to book tests on someone else's behalf tackling those who sought to hoover up tests to resell at inflated prices.

A great way to end last week, with a fabulous test pass for Karthiga. A perfect example of not giving up during your test. Convinced that she'd failed, she still stayed focused and completed the test, with the examiner wondering why she was so worried!

Remember: Examiners aren't looking for perfection, they want to see safe drivers who know how to use the road. That mistake that you may think had cost you your test may not be as bad as you thought!
