Might be an idea for those of you waiting to book a theory test to check the system tomorrow.

Here's a little more info on the changes to the car theory test due to come in on 14th April 2020.

Currently, part of the test requires candidates to answer multiple choice questions relating to a written case study. Candidates will now instead answer questions relating to a silent video clip.

A short video will show a driving situation (such as driving through a village or on a busy main road) The candidate will then have to answer 3 multiple choice questions relating to the clip. The video can be replayed as many times as the candidate wants.

Not all aspects of the test are changing however, candidates will still be required to correctly answer 43 out of 50 multiple choice questions within 57 minutes to pass and the hazard perception part is not changing in any way. Also, current revision books and software will remain relevant to the content of the test.

The changes are coming in to make the test more visual and less wordy, which will help those with learning or reading disabilities.

The theory test is changing. Candidates will now have to answer questions related to short video clips which they can watch as many times as they like. The hazard perception part will not change.

Under the current system, you have to answer 50 multiple-choice questions within 57 minutes and then ace a hazard perception test to pass the assessment - however the multiple choice element is changing
