๐จ Donโt just check your trailer tyres for tread! ๐จ
When it comes to trailer safety, having plenty of tread doesnโt necessarily mean your tyres are safe to use.
Before towing, take a few minutes to check your trailer tyres for:
๐ Bulges or bumps โ these can indicate internal damage and are a serious safety concern.
๐ Splits, cracks or perishing โ especially around the sidewalls. Trailer tyres can deteriorate with age, even if they havenโt covered many miles.
๐ Tyre age โ tyres can deteriorate over time, particularly on trailers that spend long periods sitting unused.
๐ Uneven wear โ can be a sign of incorrect pressures, overloading or a problem with the trailer.
๐ **Tread condition** โ tread depth is important, but itโs only one part of the overall tyre condition.
โ ๏ธ A tyre can have plenty of tread left and still be unsafe.
The tyre pictured is a good example of why it pays to inspect the whole tyre, not just the tread.
If youโre unsure about the condition of your trailer tyres, bring your trailer into FS Trailers and weโll be happy to take a look.
