🛞 Here’s one I suspect quite a few new drivers won’t realise.
You could potentially lose your brand-new licence without speeding, touching your phone or going anywhere near a red light.
Two illegal tyres could be enough.
An illegal tyre can carry three penalty points and a fine of up to £2,500 per tyre. For somebody in the first two years after passing, six points can mean their licence is revoked.
Suddenly that little patch of rubber you haven’t looked at since buying the car becomes rather important.
TyreSafe is reminding young drivers to use the ACT check: Air pressure, Condition and Tread.
Please teach new drivers this stuff when they get their first car.
Passing the test doesn’t suddenly make the tyres somebody else’s responsibility.
The driver is responsible for making sure the vehicle they take onto the road is legal and safe.
