🚗🔧 A BIT OF OLD-SCHOOL MOTORING TODAY!

Back over at Landbeasts in Hainault today, working on a lovely 1973 Toyota Crown!

The vehicle had an intermittent cutting-out problem, so after plenty of electrical testing, we traced the issue to a faulty ignition ballast resistor.

A quick bypass for testing and she fired up perfectly! ✅

We really enjoy working on these older classics. Sometimes it’s nice to get back to basics! 🔧

🚐🔧 NEW VAN UPDATE – CARDROME MOBILE! 💚🖤

The new VW Crafter is slowly coming together, and I’m really pleased with how it’s looking!

I’ve been busy fitting out the van with my new Halfords Advanced tools, keeping everything neat, tidy and organised. 🛠️👌

The shelving is also taking shape, including a dedicated space for my AriaZone 901 air conditioning machine! ❄️

Still plenty of work to do, but it’s all part of getting the new van ready to hit the road!

I’ll keep you all updated as the build progresses. 🚐💪

🚐💚 BIG NEWS – CARDROME MOBILE IS EXPANDING! 💚🚐

We’ve recently invested in a brand-new VW Crafter, and the project of turning it into our next fully equipped mobile workshop is well underway! 🔧

The racking is already installed, and we’re now busy fitting:

🔋 AGM leisure batteries
⚡ A powerful inverter system
💡 Interior LED lighting
🔦 Exterior work lighting
🛠️ Plenty of storage for our tools and equipment

There’s still plenty of work to do, but it’s all coming together nicely!

This is another big investment in the future of Cardrome Mobile, allowing us to continue providing a professional mobile mechanic service to our customers.

We’ll be sharing regular updates as the van takes shape, so follow our progress and see how it all comes together!

😂 3 things mechanics hate…

1️⃣ The magic warning light – “Can’t you just plug the machine in and switch it off?” If only it worked like that! 😂

2️⃣ The phone recording 📱 – Sending us a video of a strange noise and expecting us to diagnose and fix it from the other end of the phone. 🔊😂

3️⃣ Customer-supplied cheap parts 📦 – Parts bought online from halfway around the world because they were a bargain… only to find they don’t fit or don’t work! 🤦‍♂️

🔧 Sometimes the fault isn’t where you expect it to be!

This Nissan Juke had an intermittent central locking problem — sometimes the buttons on the key worked, sometimes they didn’t. 🔑🚗

After investigating, we found the actual problem was the ignition barrel had become loose.

Because of this, the car wasn’t always recognising that the key had been removed from the ignition, so it still thought the key was in there — preventing the central locking from operating correctly.

A bit of investigation rather than just throwing parts at it! 👨‍🔧

🔩 Bolts tightened
🔧 Steering lock realigned
🔑 Key removal correctly recognised
✅ Central locking back to normal

❄️ “Do you need to be parked right next to the vehicle to do the aircon?”

Not at all! 👍

With our Ariazone 901 aircon machine, we have up to 6 metres of hose, meaning we can still carry out your aircon regas even when access to the vehicle is a little awkward. 🚗❄️

Another reason mobile aircon works so well! 💪

🚗 MONDAY MOTORING TIP – NEW BRAKES DON’T ALWAYS MEAN BETTER BRAKES! 🛑

Here’s something a lot of customers don’t realise…

You’ve just had new brake pads, or new discs and pads fitted, so naturally you’d expect the car to stop better straight away.

But initially, your braking performance can actually feel worse.

New discs and pads need time to bed in properly. The surfaces need to mate together correctly before you get their proper braking performance.

⚠️ After having new brakes fitted:
👉 Give yourself extra braking distance
👉 Avoid unnecessary heavy braking
👉 Brake smoothly and progressively
👉 Allow the brakes time to bed in
👉 Always follow the bedding-in guidance for the parts fitted

So if you’ve just driven away after having new brakes fitted, don’t assume brand new means maximum braking performance straight away.

It’s something we always think should be explained to customers — because knowing what to expect after a repair is just as important as the repair itself. 🔧👍

❄️ Vauxhall Adam Air-Con Regas… but there was a problem! 🔧

We went out to this Vauxhall Adam for an air-conditioning regas, but unfortunately it wasn’t simply a case of filling it with gas and sending it on its way.

Using UV dye injected into the system and a powerful UV lamp, we quickly found the culprit — a leaking air-conditioning condenser. 🔦🟢

This is why at Cardrome Mobile we don’t just “gas it up”. We have the proper equipment to recover, vacuum, regas and help diagnose leaks, so we can find out why your air-con isn’t working properly.
