Discovery Day: Engineers, not specifications, at the centre of every decision.
That was the principle behind our first vehicle familiarisation day with SGN. Engineers, fleet managers, Ford, Mattei, our technical team — same room, vans on site.
A Ford Transit 350. Two Ford E-Couriers — one Safe & Warm, one standard. A Renault E-Master Modul-System UK Ltd demonstrator. Diesel and electric, side by side. The engineers — the people who already drive vans like these every day — walked round them, sat in them, got comfortable with the controls and conversion details, compared each one with the vehicles they currently run.
The aim was operational. Get the people who will drive these vans ready to do so on day one, not week six. Reduce the early-weeks niggles that take their toll on productivity. And equip the fleet managers and senior engineers in the room to cascade what they learned through the rest of the SGN team.
Insights gathered along the way are also informing future builds. That’s the bonus, not the headline.
That’s the role we want — not just supplying racking and conversions, but partnering through the full life of the fleet, from familiarisation through to operation.
First in a planned series. The standard we’ll apply across every customer from here.
