🔥 What Causes an Overheated Clutch?

This vehicle came into the workshop with a badly overheated clutch and as you can see from the photos, the damage was clear.

When a clutch overheats, it can cause:
• Burning smells
• Difficulty changing gears
• Slipping when accelerating
• Reduced performance and potential breakdown

So what causes it?

⚠️ Common reasons include:
• Riding the clutch (keeping your foot partially on the pedal)
• Heavy stop-start traffic

🚧 Pothole Damage: Broken Coil Spring on a BMW

You might not always see the damage… but you’ll definitely feel it.

This BMW came in after hitting a pothole - and the culprit?
A broken coil spring.

Coil springs are a key part of your suspension system. They support the weight of the vehicle, absorb shocks from the road and keep your tyres firmly in contact with the surface.

🚨 ABS Light On? It Might Not Be “Just a Sensor”…

When a warning light pops up on your dashboard, it’s easy to hope it’s something small and inexpensive.

But in this case, the issue wasn’t a faulty sensor at all 👇

It was a broken ABS ring.

The ABS ring (also known as a reluctor ring) works alongside your ABS sensor to monitor wheel speed. When it cracks, corrodes or breaks, it sends incorrect readings - triggering that dreaded warning light.

⚠️ The result?
• ABS system not working properly
• Potential MOT failure
• Reduced braking safety in emergency situations

As you can see from the photos, this ring had completely failed — something you wouldn’t spot without a proper inspection.
