Audi TT Roadster 1.8t Engine Carbon Clean

An iconic shape, the first Audi TT is based on the Golf / A3 platform. It came in front wheel and 4 wheel drive and with 1.8 turbo 4 cylinder or 3.2 naturally aspirated 6 cylinder engines.
This 2005 car is the entry level 150 BHP 1.8 model. Having only covered 39,000 miles in 21 years, this car has no doubt had a life of short trips and gentle driving and will greatly benefit from an Engine Carbon Clean. During the clean we saw lots of steam and water dripping from the exhaust.

Audi A3 2.0 TDi Engine Carbon Clean

This 2012 car has only done 61,000 miles and has a problem with EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) flow.
Monitoring live data during the clean we saw problems with the engine coolant temperature being too low, and the DPF Pressure Sensor giving unbelievably low readings. We suspect the DPF is a lot fuller than the car thinks it is, and the increased back pressure in the exhaust is causing the EGR Flow error.
So 2 issues for the customer to get resolved and get the car running properly again.

Mercedes Sprinter Engine Carbon Clean

Returning to this customer to do 2 more vans for them.
This Sprinter has recently had a new turbo and covered 264,000 miles.
Looking at live data during the clean we noticed the engine coolant temperature was only getting to 57°C, which is around 25°C too low. This will probably be due to a faulty thermostat, or possibly a faulty temperature sensor. This will cause the van to use more diesel, and create more carbon build up affecting the engine and exhaust system.
We advised the customer and he will get it investigated.

Isuzu Grafter DPF Clean

We have done a few of these now, these are about the biggest vehicles we do DPF Cleans on, rated at upto 4 tonnes.

This truck works hard but doesn't do many longer trips. It has a button on the dash to force regenerations but that isn't working anymore.
We found a DPF Pressure Sensor error code, an oil in the pipe.
Surprisingly when we did the 2nd half of the clean, what came out of the exhaust was a lot better than expected. We successfully forced a regeneration too, so the owner is going to replace the DPF Pressure Sensor and keep the truck.

Called to Engine Carbon Clean a 2017 Mercedes A220d due to EGR Flow being low and causing problems.
As part of the EGR was easy to get to, we took a pipe off and what we saw was shocking. This car has only done 90,000 miles.
We manually cleaned the pipe before the carbon clean so the gases could flow more easily and clean more effectively.

Audi Q7 3.0 TDi DPF Clean.

Called by a regular garage customer to DPF Clean this 2014 145,000 miles car.
They have had it in to resolve cooling and injector issues and then found the DPF was too full to be able to regenerate.
The car completed a successful regeneration after our liquid chemical DPF Clean and has been handed back to the customer.

Volvo XC-60 Engine Carbon Clean
This 2017 car has covered 117,000 miles, and is having EGR problems.

Live data shows the EGR valve is moving as much as it's being asked to.
The DPF soot levels were very high so we forced a regeneration to get the content back down to manageable levels.
That in turn reduces the back pressure in the exhaust system and should help the EGR system operate more easily.

Mazda 6 Engine Carbon Clean.
This 2016 2.0 diesel has covered 116,000 miles.
The second owner has just bought it but immediately has seen EGR flow problems with it.
The DPF is in good order, and the EGR Cooler is working but the EGR Valve itself is not moving.
Even trying to open and close it with the diagnostic tool is having no effect.
The owner took out a comprehensive warranty so will get the EGR Valve replaced.

Range Rover Evoque DPF Clean

This 2017 car has only done 55,000 miles, and now really only does short trips.

The DPF Pressure Sensor was also giving an unbelievably low reading, so we advised the customer to get that changed.

A successful clean and regeneration drive were completed and the car handed back to the customer.

BMW 335d DPF Clean.

This 2011 car is in need of a clean to unblock the DPF. Diagnostics showed a DPF temperature sensor showing a minus reading, when it's about 18 degrees outside.
No other problems found.
A successful clean was carried out and the owner advised of the broken sensor.
