Good afternoon everyone . Just a heads up to our anaul Tug of War . We have another great day lined up.

Then we party into the night with 2 great live bands . Bar ect and Heggies hog roast .

It's been an extremely busy couple of weeks in the network for fixing . This is not one we did ourselves but one of our fellow dealers in the network resolved this for the owner.

At the very top of the problem list is the Nissan Qashqai.
This one presented with a blocked unit and the owner had a competitive quote to "clean it". When he asked for a price to clean his local TerraClean dealer they asked if the cleaning company had investigated and identified the problem. ............. "It's blocked was the owners answer" and that is fair comment from the owner, but the company cleaning should have known better and explained the concept of DPF to him. Once explained he took it to our dealer, who diagnosed the problem - which is ALWAYS the key. Then he resolved the problem, allowed the unit to regenerate (self-clean).

If your car develops a problem, maybe you see the dreaded warning light - do not panic - simply talk to us - FIRST.

Even better talk to us about preventative maintenance and avoid that sinking feeling when it just will not start.

Many fleet owners trust specialists such as us and our fellow TerraClean service centres - and mobile technicians - to keep their vehicles and employees on the move.

Ford transits of all types are one of the most regular vans brought to network specialists for DPF related problems. Owners want to avoid the unnecessary expense of replacing DPF units, too many are drawn-in by companies who say they will clean them at a great price.

The key is never just to clean. There is no point unblocking a DPF unless you are going to fix the fault that caused it to block in the first place. If you do not fix the fault, then either the cleaned DPF or even a new DPF is likely to block up again, that could happen soon after the clean or replacement.

We, like our fellow DPF technicians, have state of the art diagnostic equipment and importantly we know how to read and interpret the results of the diagnostics.

With this Transit Custom the blockage was due to a faulty senor, relied upon by the vehicles ECU to signal that the vehicle was at the correct temperature to start the regeneration process. Replacing or cleaning the DPF unit would never remove that problem and without fixing it (in this case replacing the sensor) blockage would happen again pretty quickly.

By correctly diagnosing the fault and fitting a new quality replacement sensor the DPF was able to regenerate – so no cleaning fee was even required.

Would you let your mate operate on you because?

• His friend's a doctor.

This is a Ford Transit Custom only 23,000 miles on it. The owner had a mate with a "obd machine" he’s "cheap" and watched a video on "YouTube" outcome, said he would give it a go, what could go wrong - he "wouldn't make it any worse".

• Overheated and broken DPF system and the blockage was not cleaned.

999, what’s your emergency!
