We have come out of hibernation! Liam has reopened the Ploughmans Pit Stop, Wednesday to Friday and the Barn is open weekends and bank holidays.

It seems a bit early but lots of bookings coming in already. We can also cater for big groups/parties in the week for lunch now. Please email for any bookings over 6 people.

Young Liam has decided to open a smaller MIDWEEK version of the Barn next door. It’s called The Ploughman’s Pitstop and opens Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunchtimes 10.45 - 2.45. No booking required but give him the heads up if you are coming in groups larger than 6 so he can call for backup. Drinks are all the same as the barn but food is just ploughmans, soup and goulash. During school holidays there will also be pizzas or jacket spuds on offer.

At last we have our new seating area available which is perfect for the "not so nimble" amongst us.Ideal for anyone with mobility issues. It's just a few flat steps from the car and you will have some of the best seats in the house. (Car to be parked just around the corner once you've unloaded) All covered, but the barn is also available when the weather cools off. Just drop us a note or call to let us know your exact requirements and we can reserve spaces and tables to suit. It's just a few steps from the access loo and no steps anywhere!
(This area is open to all but the "not so nimble" get priority and there is no parking for the nimble visitors unless assisting)

I'm often asked where our goulash recipe originated. The simple answer is from an old hunting book owned by my grandad, Hunting with Camera and Gun by Karel Hajek. With it came a traditional Czechoslovakian recipe book which includes two venison goulash recipes. We use the extravagant ceremonial recipe which is low carb, fat and gluten free! Our slightly adjusted speciality can now be enjoyed in the warm barn. Vegan version is almost the same! Bookings essential.

Happy New year to you all. From this week and for the rest of 2023 we will be open every weekend and Bank holiday. It may be cold outside but the views are just stunning with the leaf off and the barn is now insulated and heated. Who needs germ filled gyms when you have the hills to walk and ride in!
The picture is of the Stonor Valley. The circular walk from Stonor to the Barn and back is breathtaking. Just ask us for the walk details in the booking notes and we will send you the download.
