After a long drive to Stranraer last night, i’m here on site at NXN Autos to wire up a VW Caddy engine conversion that they have completed.

This was a nice job, Mk2 Audi TT coupe swapped from a 2.0 Tsi engine to a 3.6 Vw Passat engine. Customer had fitted everything perfectly, prior to my arrival in Leicester to wire it all up.

These R36 engines are still strong money, but I’d love to swap one into my VR6 Clio, with a couple of turbos for good measure of course 🙈

I still have too many plates spinning to get involved currently, but if there’s a cheap engine about …….😂😂

Customer tells me his van suddenly started smoking and lost power.

I suggested he removed the downpipe to investigate. Of course, he’s replaced the turbo and built it up since then. But upon running the engine he heard a rattle……

I thought i’d share the video he’s sent me.

Made me chuckle. 😂😂

Here we go again…….

Here we have a 2012 Vw Caddy fitted with a 2.0 common rail engine (code CFH). 6 speed manual and the customer has converted to a 6 speed DSG gearbox.

Im here to wire and code it all in. The ecu will need flashing with a genuine Vw ecu file, one thats suitable for DSG as it cannot be coded on this particular file. Luckily I can perform this on site.

On inspection the van appears to have had a previous wiring issue, so I will need to assess and repair that correctly too.

I think there’s a full tin of spam in this sandwich. 😳

Anyway, i’m in Scunthorpe fixing another Caddy conversion. This was a 1.9 BLS engine originally that the owner converted himself to a 2.0 BKD. Then a lad came and converted it to a DSG gearbox. Now its my turn to try find any issues and put it right, along with wire it up as a 3.2 with DSG.

Oh no 🙈🙈🙈 I thought scotchlocks had disappeared back under the rock they crawled out of. ……… seems they haven’t. These must be the mk2 version.
