🚗 Another busy week in the workshop! Here’s just a few of the BMWs that passed through our doors:

🔹 G20 (Motech enhanced)
In with us for its annual MOT, a parking sensor fault, and water ingress into the driver’s footwell. All issues diagnosed and resolved — happy customer, job done.

🔹 M4 CS
A very rare M4 CS visited us with a tapping noise on cold start. Inspection confirmed the well-known exhaust camshaft alignment issue. Repaired strictly to BMW procedures using correct components and torque settings. Back to sounding as it should 💪

🔹 F10 M5
In for both DMEs (ECUs) to be updated to the latest BMW software. We also repaired wiring to the high-pressure fuel pumps, as the car is running later-generation F90 M5 pumps.

🔹 F20 M140i
Recently purchased and suffering from knocking noises and poor handling. Our free vehicle health check found a failed steering rack thrust piece and damaged suspension bush. Thrust piece and lower control arms replaced on both sides using genuine BMW parts — handling restored ✔️

Happy New year

We’ve had a busy start to the year with some interesting jobs through our doors with lots of BMW’s serviced and repaired.
Bmw M135i F20 arrivied with us for a disturbing noise, we quickly determined what the fault was, we found the valvetronic motor worm gear and eccentric shaft teeth had become excessively worn causing the dreaded noise which has become a common fault. We replaced the eccentric shaft and valveteonic motor, replaced all relevant gaskets and seals, and carried out all relevant service functions and learns to ensure all BMW’s repair procedures were met.
Bmw 335d F30 arrivied with us for a transfer box service and both differentials to have there oil replaced. All genuine fluids used and an transfer box adaption procure was carried out.
The car also received a set of Bilstein shock absorbers, we look forward to seeing this one for some other service items and a gearbox service as per our recommendation in the near future
Bmw 420i F32 arrivied with us for diagnostics after another garage had recommends us. We carried our tests and found a lack of movement within the Vanos system. We removed the faulty component and completed the repair as per BMW procedures with Genuine BMW parts used. This repair required a lot of special tooling, again ensuring no damage to any components upon removal of injectors etc..
BMW X3 M40d and X2 have had services along with many other BMWs and mini’s over the last few weeks, all the services we carry out follow BMW’s schedules and specifications, key data read, updated to BMW’s online porta, I-drives updated and Shell oil used.
Bmw F15 X5 40d arrivied with us over the Christmas break as a breakdown we found the fault quickly and rectified the coolant leak with Genuine parts, all the vehicles that come through our doors have a free health check and we found a failing air suspension bellows. We photographed the failing component, informed the customer and they were happy for us to go ahead with the repair.

We see a large amount of BMW’s and Mini’s through our doors, our technicians are BMW trained ensuring your pride and joy is in safe hands.

🚗 Let’s Talk About BMW Timing Chains ⏱️
If you own a BMW, you might have heard about timing chains and their role in your vehicle’s engine. Unlike timing belts, which need regular replacement, timing chains are designed to last longer. But here’s the thing: while they’re supposed to be “lifetime” components, that doesn't mean they never wear out!
BMWs, especially models like the N20, N47, and N57 engines, have been known to have timing chain issues.
These engines can be found in BMW 1 Series,BMW 2 Series,BMW 3 Series,BMW 4 Series,BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series,BMW 7 Series,BMW 8 Series,
BMW X Series (SUVs),BMW Z Series (Roadsters),

Symptoms of a worn or failing timing chain include: 🔧 Rattling noise from the engine (especially at startup) 🔧 Misfiring or rough idling 🔧 Engine warning lights or reduced performance
If ignored, a broken timing chain can cause catastrophic engine damage 💥, leading to expensive repairs. The good news! Regular maintenance checks can catch early signs of wear.
