We’re back at our fabrication facilities in Grantham for the next part of our behind-the-scenes look at the MV Commercial crane truck build process.

This time, KC and Scott explore the early stages of the build, focusing on the subframes and bodies being mounted to the chassis before the finishing work begins.

Supporting both our Ready to Go stock programme and bespoke customer orders, this stage is a key part of MV’s dual build system, turning chassis and components into specialist trucks built for the job.

From our Grantham factory to HTF Transport’s fleet.

MV Commercial is proud to have delivered this stunning Volvo FH500 GT 8x2 crane truck, built at our Grantham manufacturing facility to HTF Transport’s exacting specification.

This build brings together a Volvo NATO chassis with a 400mm extension for front crane stabiliser leg fitment, a Fruehauf design and built cabin spec body with hydraulic rear pull-out, and a Palfinger PK65002 SH F crane with seven hydraulic extensions.

The crane features a hoist with synchronised rope control, rope tension control and fly jib preparation. It is HTF Transport’s third vehicle capable of accepting their PJ125 six-extension fly jib, giving the team greater flexibility across their fleet and a lifting reach of just under 30 metres when fitted.

Completed with a PSS camera kit, ADR compliance, Palfinger’s Tier 1 stabiliser leg safety system and a range of Volvo factory-fitted extras, the truck combines specialist lifting capability with operator comfort and safety.

Builds like this showcase the expertise within our Grantham factory, where our teams bring chassis, bodies and cranes together to deliver specialist vehicles tailored to customers’ operations.
