🚧BIG NEWS 🚧

After a lot of planning, paperwork, patience (and probably a few grey hairs 😅), work officially starts **Tuesday 27th May** on the expansion of Leeming Brothers Automotive 🎉

Here’s a sneak peek of what the finished result should roughly look like 👀 (artist’s impression / AI visual – not to scale, colours to be confirmed)

This is a huge step for us as a family-run business, and something we’ve been working towards for a long time.

The end goal?

✅ More workshop space
✅ Improved workflow
✅ Bringing MOT testing in-house
✅ Better capacity & an even better overall customer experience

Now for the honest bit…

While works are underway, there will inevitably be some disruption, and availability may be slightly more limited than usual while we juggle building works and keeping everyone on the road 🚗🔧

**If possible, please give us a call rather than popping in to book or enquire, just to help keep vehicle traffic on site to a minimum while machinery and building works are ongoing.**

**If your vehicle is arriving by recovery, please ring ahead first to ensure we have space available, as access may be restricted at times.**

We’ll do everything we can to keep things running as smoothly as possible and massively appreciate everyone’s patience and support while we build for the future 💪

It’s a big investment for us as a family business, but one we truly believe will be worth it.

Quick one from last week…

Car came in for a routine service.
Found a tyre splitting apart and a cracked rear disc.

Both properly dangerous, and the customer had no idea.

Not everything shows symptoms until it’s too late, which is why we always have a proper look round while it’s in.

We’ll be closed from Monday 8th June to Friday 12th June, reopening Monday 15th June.

We’ll be using this time to push things forward behind the scenes as part of our next stage — all geared towards a bigger, better workshop 👀

VW Golf DSG gearbox issues? This is why you don’t ignore them 👇

This VW Golf came in struggling to select gears.

Instead of guessing, we stripped it down, sent the mechatronics off for reconditioning, and carried out preventative work while we were in there:

✅ New selector fork bushings
✅ New clutch packs

Fix the problem properly — and prevent the next one at the same time.

🚗🔥 PLANNING PERMISSION GRANTED 🔥🚗

We’re proud to announce that planning permission has officially been GRANTED for the expansion of Leeming Brothers of Haworth 🎉

This allows us to move forward with plans for a larger workshop and a dedicated MOT bay, improving turnaround times, availability and overall workflow, while continuing to deliver the honest, high-quality service we’re known for.

What this means for you as a customer while the build is ongoing

Building works are currently planned to begin around April. During this time, we’ll be operating at reduced capacity while part of the existing garage is redeveloped to make way for the new workshop.

During the build:
• Appointment availability may be more limited than usual
• Lead times may be slightly longer
• We won’t be able to stock tyres on site while works are underway

We’re sharing this early so customers can plan ahead and book in advance where possible. Our standards, workmanship and customer care will remain exactly the same throughout.

We’d also like to apologise in advance to our neighbours and customers for any temporary noise or disruption during the build — but as the saying goes, you can’t make an omelette without cracking a few eggs 😉

This is a short-term adjustment for a long-term improvement, and once complete, it’ll allow us to offer a faster, smoother service for everyone.

We had this Peugeot 107 in with a flat-battery issue that kept returning. Initial testing showed a parasitic drain of 210 milliamps, which is more than enough to flatten a battery overnight.

After checking the basics — fuses, interior lights, radio, boot switch and charging system — everything appeared normal, so we moved on to deeper diagnostics using our thermal imaging camera.

That’s when we found the culprit: an aftermarket insurance black box hidden up behind the dashboard. It was staying live when the car was locked and slowly draining the battery.

Once removed, the parasitic draw dropped to a healthy 40 milliamps, right where it should be.

The battery had already been weakened by the ongoing drain, so we fitted a new one and everything is now working as it should.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Leeming Brothers of Haworth.

That’s us finished for Christmas — we’re back open Monday 5th January.

What a year it has been and thank you so much to everyone who’s supported us this year — it really does mean a lot. We’ve made a few improvements behind the scenes, with much more to come in the New Year.

One thing you might notice is that we now send appointment and MOT text reminders. It’s just a little nudge to help you stay on top of dates, avoid any last-minute stress, and keep everything running smoothly.

We’ll always do our best to keep things sensibly priced and good value, while still doing the job properly. We fit quality, trusted parts as standard, and if you’d prefer a budget option, just say the word and we’ll happily price that up for you too.

Hyundai i40 saved!

This 2019 Hyundai i40 came in after cutting out.

The root cause?
The alternator overrunning pulley had failed, which put excessive strain on the alternator belt tensioner. The tensioner then failed, the belt shredded, and the frayed belt pieces were dragged into the timing belt. That caused the timing to jump and actually spin the lobes in the cam box 🤦‍♂️

To put it right we fitted:
- New cam box with lifters & rocker arms
- New timing belt kit & water pump
- New alternator belt, tensioner and overrunning alternator pulley
- Oil & filter change
- Fresh long life coolant

All timed up correctly and now running sweet again ✅

If you hear a chirping/squealing belt or see bits of rubber around the engine bay, get it checked sooner rather than later – it can quickly turn into major engine damage like this.
