A huge congratulations to Eric Lambatin on passing his driving test at Bury St Edmunds in an automatic today! 👏👏

Passing your test is never easy, but Eric kept working hard, stayed focused, and showed the examiner he was ready for the roads ahead. A fantastic achievement and one that should make him very proud. 🚙💨

Special praise must also go to his instructor, Osheah Ahmed, whose guidance, patience and coaching helped Eric reach this important milestone. It’s always great to see the hard work of both pupil and instructor rewarded with that pass certificate. ⭐

😳 THE DAY I SAVED A DRIVING EXAMINER!

Most people think a driving instructor’s job is protecting the pupil…

This was the day I had to protect the examiner! 😳

A candidate failed their driving test and completely lost it.

The examiner got out of the car.

The candidate got out too…

And headed straight towards him.

I stepped in between them and had a very quick conversation about what might happen next.

The words…

🚔 “Assault”

🚔 “Police”

🚔 “Prison”

…seemed to help calm things down. 😂

The scary part?

He genuinely believed that because he’d been driving for years, he was entitled to a licence.

Unfortunately, that’s not how it works.

🎉 JAKE BATT – PASSED! 🎉

📍 Bury St Edmunds

✅ Just 4 Minors

🌧️ Weather Conditions:
Some people called it rain…
Others called it a monsoon…
Jake probably thought he was taking his test in a submarine! 🚢😂

After months of getting around on an electric bike, dodging puddles and battling the British weather, Jake finally decided enough was enough and upgraded to four wheels! 🚗⚡➡️🚙

With rain hammering the windscreen, wipers working harder than the DVSA booking system, and visibility somewhere between “foggy” and “guesswork,” Jake kept his cool and produced a fantastic drive.

The best news?

🚲 The electric bike can finally have a well-earned retirement!

No more arriving soaked.
No more checking the weather app every ten minutes.
No more wondering if the battery or the rider will run out first! 😂

A brilliant result and thoroughly deserved.

😳 WE WERE SITTING IN THE WRONG TEST CENTRE! 😂

DESCRIPTION:

My very first driving test as a BSM instructor.

Pupil booked a test.

I thought it was at Eastham.

It wasn’t.

We sat in the waiting room watching examiner after examiner collect candidates.

Eventually there was just me and my pupil left. 😂

Turns out her test was at Wanstead.

Then she hit me with:

💀 “I did wonder why we kept driving around Eastham and not Wanstead.”

Thanks for mentioning that BEFORE we got there! 🤣

🔑 CONFESSIONS OF A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR: LOCKED OUT AT THE TEST CENTRE!

This was in my early years as a driving instructor.

Test day.

Pupil ready.

Paperwork ready.

Everything going smoothly.

Or so I thought…

I got out of the car at the test centre, shut the door, and instantly realised I’d left the keys inside. 😳 All doors are locked 😩😩😩

Not ideal.

Especially when your pupil is due to take their driving test in a matter of minutes!

But it was one of those moments that teaches you a lesson you’ll never forget.

DESCRIPTION:

Over 45 years as a driving instructor, I’ve made plenty of mistakes.

Most are small.

Some are embarrassing.

And a couple have resulted in pupils missing driving tests… 😳

No excuses.

No blaming the DVSA.

No blaming technology.

Just me getting it wrong.

The good news?

Every mistake teaches you something.

The bad news?

It’s usually after you’ve made it! 😂

😳 DRIVING INSTRUCTOR CONFESSION: WHAT WAS THAT WET PATCH?!

DESCRIPTION:

Pupil suddenly announces they desperately need the toilet.

No problem, we pull over and swap seats.

I open the driver’s door and immediately spot a suspicious wet patch on the seat... 😳

Being a gentleman, I decided to pretend I hadn’t seen it.

Big mistake.

Let’s just say I spent the rest of the lesson sitting very carefully... and most of that evening cleaning the seat because I had lessons booked the next day! 😂

The things they don’t tell you when you become a driving instructor...

🚗 PARENTS ARE A CHILD’S FIRST DRIVING INSTRUCTOR 🚗

Long before a child sits behind the wheel…

They’re already learning how to drive.

They’re watching you.

👀 How you deal with other drivers.

👀 Whether you use your indicators.

👀 Whether you obey speed limits.

👀 Whether you wear a seatbelt.

👀 Whether you stay off your phone.

👀 Whether you stay calm when things don’t go your way.

Every journey is a lesson.

Not for you…

For them.

Children absorb habits long before they understand the rules.

By the time they start formal driving lessons, many already have strong ideas about what “normal driving” looks like.

SO ASK YOURSELF…

🚦 Do I drive with patience?

🚦 Do I show courtesy to others?

🚦 Do I practise what I preach?

🚦 Am I setting the right example?

Because one day…

That little voice in the back seat becomes the learner in the front seat.
