The end of an era

The sale of Deesand Limited @ Harts Farm Way, Havant (Site) officially completed today.

SMC Deesand Ltd is officially in place and will take care of old customers that have been with us on this journey. Dona, Shane and Mark are still there so you will still see familiar faces.

I was a young girl when my parents started Deesand with my Auntie and Uncle, the partnership ended and Deesand continued to grow.

Mum taking care of the books and my Dad taking care of earning the pennies, I took over mums role when I became a mother. Deesand didn’t feel like work, we had a good team around us as we added another string to our bow!

Dad’s accident happened in July of 2024, we worked as a team to keep things ticking over and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for that. Ultimately a decision was made that it was TIME ! Deesand was always Dads baby, I knew he’d never hand over the rains ! Official retirement for my Dad to enjoy life now ….

I feel extremely proud, Deesand was a small business that started back in the 80’s

There is nothing more frustrating than a repair carried out but someone who couldn’t be bothered to use the correct parts and just forcing components in. Also to top it off not actually fixing the original problem. Here we have a vehicle running rough, the camshaft sensors had been replaced. The sensors should be at a different offset from the retaining bolt but the air box bracket was bent out of the way and the wiring harness crushed against the bracket. We found the camshafts out of sync, removed timing chain cleaned camshaft phasing units and refit in the correct position, replaced timing chain as per customer request as it was the perfect time to replace and replaced both camshaft sensors with the correct parts. Checked the wiring harness and confirmed it was okay. Refit the air box bracket back to where it should be and installed the air box as the manufacturer intended. Vehicle now running nice and smooth, thank you for the opportunity to put the vehicle right the correct way 👍🏼.

One of our repeat customers came in Wednesday with a noise from the front of the vehicle. Carried out an inspection and found the passenger front wheel bearing had excessive play and needed replacement. Also upon inspection found the passenger front coil spring was snapped and had a misshapen tyre. The vehicle was left with us as we couldn’t repair the vehicle straight away. Sourced all of the correct parts, also carried out thread repair to the wheel hub assembly. All back together ready for collection Saturday morning as the customer needed it for the afternoon.

Even though most modern vehicles are fitted with brake pad wear indicators they may not give you and true indication the brake pads are low. Here is some pictures from a Land Rover Discovery Sport, the outer brake pads have worn down to the limit but the inner brake pads still have plenty of life in them and the wear indicator has not even made contact with the brake disc. Unfortunately the owner of this vehicle hit a pothole on their way to work, left the vehicle with us and we supplied and fitted a Bridgestone AO tyre to keep a matching set 👍🏼.
