Vauxhall Insignia 2.0cdti came to us barely holding on. The driver noticed a slipping clutch, high revs, and a distinct burning smell and for good reason. See from the photos the clutch plate was worn right down to the rivets, leaving absolutely zero friction material left to grip. Because the job was pushed past its limit, the extreme heat severely grooved, heat-spotted, and ruined the flywheel as well.
The Fix: We stripped it all down and replaced the entire assembly with a quality brand-new clutch kit, slave cylinder and dual mass flywheel. The difference in pedal feel and power delivery is night and day.
If your manual car is struggling on hills, the engine revs up but your speed stays the same, or your biting point feels way too high, don't wait. Catching a slipping clutch early saves your flywheel and keeps a standard repair from turning into a more costly job! Got a clutch that’s seen better days?
