Two prima facie very easy ways to improve TfL capacity for very little cost. Interested to hear views.

1. Reduce the number of seats. Standing areas accommodate approximately 5-6x as many people. Remove 60-80% of seats leaving the remainder as priority only. Most people are too sedentary anyway.

2. Rationalise the number of stops at peak times. Some stations are frequently devoid of passengers or close to at peak times e.g. Pimlico and Bermondsey or are close enough to an alternative station that they are largely redundant e.g. embankment, Charing cross, and Leicester Square on the same line. You do not need all 3. A stop adds roughly 1.5-2 minutes (including deceleration and acceleration). Rationalising stops at peak times would allow for shorter journeys and, thereby, increased throughput increasing the capacity of the line.
