The government has deemed garages to be an essential service and as such they are exempt from the list of businesses required to close. At GM Autotech we are open for business but are enforcing a strict, zero person to person contact protocol to ensure the safety of all our staff and customers (see details below). We have started to experience some delays in the component supply chain, so if your car is waiting for parts please bear with us. The MOT scheme has also been changed - the government has announced that from 30 March 2020, MOT due dates for cars, motorcycles and light vans will be extended by 6 months (see details below).
Zero person-to-person contact options:
1) Book in by email or telephone and ask for our free collection and delivery service. We will then collect your vehicle, carry out the work required, and once payment has been received (credit/debit card payments can be taken over the 'phone) deliver your vehicle back to your home or workplace. Our staff will naturally adhere to government hygiene advice whilst driving your car (including wearing gloves) and will respect your personal space on the doorstep.
2) Book in by email or telephone, drop your vehicle off at the workshop, but instead of going into the waiting room just post your car keys through the reception door letter box (preferably in an envelope). On completion of the job we'll park your car outside on the forecourt and place the key in a combination locked key safe by the reception door. Once payment for the job has been received we'll contact you with the appropriate combination number and instructions on how to retrieve your key.
MOT testing
If your car or light van MOT expires before 30/03/20 you will still need to get your vehicle tested - full details are available here:

If your car or light van expires on or after 30/03/20 your MOT expiry date will be extended by 6 months - full details are available here:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-mots-for-cars-vans-and-motorcycles-due-from-30-march-2020
If your car has been tested and failed in the last few days the repairs will have to be completed in order for you to get a pass. If you are concerned about the roadworthiness of your vehicle we can still carry out safety inspections and services if required.
If you are in any doubt about any of the above please call or email us.
In the meantime please stay safe, keep vigilant and keep your spirits up!
