Very important information please check your instructor or parents looking for an instructor for your Kids please check credentials, any driving instructor who is legit will happily share details I know I’ve been asked and happily provided information.
⚠️ Learner drivers — please check your instructor is properly registered before booking lessons.
I’ve noticed around the local area there seems to be an influx of driving instructor without a badge in the window, what I mean by this is:
A legitimate paid driving instructor in the UK should display either:
🟩 a GREEN ADI badge (fully qualified)
or
🩷 a PINK PDI badge (trainee instructor)
These should normally be visible in the windscreen during lessons.
Before paying for block bookings or lessons:
✅ Check the DVSA instructor register
✅ Ask whether they are ADI or PDI
✅ Ask to see their badge
✅ Make sure the car has dual controls
✅ Be cautious of “cash only” lessons with no receipts
Red flags 🚩
❌ No badge displayed
❌ Refuses to give full name
❌ Cannot be found on DVSA register
❌ Extremely cheap lessons
❌ Pressure to pay upfront immediately
A lot of learners don’t realise fake/unlicensed instructors do exist, so please protect yourself and your money.
