These were the V8 engined version of the Rover P5 coupe. Identified by the Rostyle chrome and black finished wheels and two exhaust pipes poking out beneath the back bumper. Much admired when new they somehow represent an age gone by when cars were made by men not machines and are regarded by many as the last of the 'real' rovers.

Amazing how much different it looks, I took bonnet off and car looks like a scrapper.

Info. On a p5b the carbs feed the outer cylinders on their side and the inner cylinders opposite. On the HIF type carbs the mixture strength is richened by screening the adjusters in. A starting point for tickover is to back off the throttle stop screws to close the throttles than screw in one turn making sure there is enough slack in the connecting link so that each carb can be set independently. The mixture can be checked by the lifting pin, raising the piston should keep the engine running. If it stops it's too weak if it speeds up it's too rich. The intake hiss in the carbs should be the same,use the stop screws to balance.
