I’ve had a couple of people message me recently with the question “what is chemical decontamination”
This video should go some way to explaining it.
It’s the process of removing iron and tar deposits from the surface of paintwork, glass and wheels using chemicals specifically designed for the purpose.
Iron deposits come from braking, living close to a busy road or train station, tar unfortunately comes from poorly maintained road surfaces, more so when the weather is hot and the tarmac warm.
This is always done before a claying and after your wash regime. A claybar will remove the contamination left behind after this process.
Failure to do this prior to machine polishing would mean you’d be dragging all this contaminated around the paintwork on your pad and leaving all sorts of marring and damage behind.
Hopefully that goes some way to explaining things.
