Further to our post in February we are pleased to advise that Glyn’s recovery is going well.
We are accepting bookings once more, but are working reduced hours whilst the recovery is ongoing. More info available on our web pages.

Customer Update

We are currently closed and not taking on any new bookings.

This is due to a recent personal event where our engineer, Glyn, suffered a heart attack, and was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. He is well but has a significant period of convalescence ahead.

We will remain closed whilst we assess the extent of Glyn’s rehabilitation and consider our options for the future.

Customers with bookings in the coming weeks are being contacted by telephone or email to cancel the appointment and suggest alternatives where we can.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Finally, thank you to the many customers who have already sent their well wishes, this is greatly appreciated.

A belated Happy New Year to our regular customers. As usual we finished 2025 by participating in the village Christmas Convoy. This year the money raised goes to Farleigh Hospice, a cause very close to my heart. The improved van illuminations this year are thanks to my kids who had a lot of fun with it.
2026 has kicked off with a deluge of repairs; fridges, boilers (Truma and Alde) and a couple of fuse boxes thrown in for good measure.
As ever we are busy so please remember to call early to book in for servicing. We only have a couple of appointments left in March now!

This week a customer brought us a Hymer van with some far reaching gas issues. Nothing was working as it should.
We investigated and found a catalogue of problems, 3 of them classified in gas regs as “immediately dangerous”. In the photograph you will see that a gas pipe was severed and repaired with water pipe!
Sadly all of this has been recently passed as OK in a hab service by a big dealer.
We carried out repairs and the customer is now camping safely.

We brought the year to a close in the traditional away today, taking part in the annual Christmas Convoy, raising cash for Broomfield Hospital.
It’s been a great year and we spent our last couple of working days helping the VW dealer (a different one) with a couple of Grand Californias and fixing a neighbour’s Truma boiler just before he heads off to Austria for a ski trip.

We hear lots of chat about the fact that there is no need for regular servicing of caravans and motorhomes. Here are some of the issues we found over the last couple of weeks:
Faulty RCD (risk of shock)
Burnt out 12v wiring (fire risk)
Badly installed gas regulator (carbon monoxide poisoning risk)
Damaged brake drums and bearings (impact on braking, not roadworthy)
There is a reason that your insurance company expects you to service your leisure vehicle regularly….

The owner of this van was having difficulty engaging his manual powrtouch mover. So we fitted an auto engage Reich mover. The owner can’t believe the difference…. So if you want a quality motor mover give us a call, these are our preferred fitment. They come with a 5 year warranty if fitted by a Reich approved fitter.
