Doing the extra work tonight to ensure this customer had zero downtime… collected it at 8am and took to my supplier to have a tacho calibration, left it with them and got the call at 4pm to say it was done, .. recollection and delivered back at 7.30 pm … sometimes it pays to put yourself out at times as I’m pretty sure my competitors don’t do this on a Saturday evening.. ps .. this was mot 29/29 as well … starting 2026 as I mean to go on.

New year, new customer, new issues ….. truck has been parked up for 3 weeks as Xmas shutdown, no air build up, big air leaks in cab under dash and floor plate ….. turns out the mice found a new home and a feast of plastic pipes …… new pipe work and fittings and it’s back on the road earning its coin 👌👍

Had the pleasure of working on this old girl last week for mot, 2 bulbs, number plate lamp and an exhaust silencer and she passed her test with 0 advisories 27/27 for the year, most people would walk away at the age of this old truck but I won’t, I worked on these when my dad had a fleet of 20 of them in the 80’s when I was a schoolboy.. anyone struggling to find a company to look after your older truck, give me a call, I’ll always try for you 👌👍

Old daf 45 .. poor starting, giving the impression that the fuel was running back, to start with the pipes on the filter housing literally fell out, took the filter apart and found this sludge …. Customer was told that on last service all filters had been changed ….. not good

24/24 mots passed this year so far, still a few more to get through before the end of the year…. Horsebox owners … when was the last time you had your vehicle mechanically inspected.. apart from the last mot you had .??

With winter here and cold weather .. think about checking the antifreeze and having any parts greased that can be greased, a FULL thorough inspection doesn’t cost the earth, definitely worth doing as you don’t want to be sat at the roadside with the horse eating grass in the darkness because you didn’t check it over ….

T reg Volvo FLc Horsebox … the original air bags are obsolete now so I purchased a new modern one and then made a new saddle, modified the top plate and got this old gem back up and running for the customer … a lot of mechanics will walk away from the older boxes, I won’t, I’ll always give it a go and normally get it fixed …. Time and patience is all that’s needed
