Read this today:
So I went into Asda today to do a shop. Got all my usuals and then went to the checkout. The lady was lovely and helpful. When she told me the total was Ā£134.63 I said to her āThank you so much, can I have it for Ā£75? I come in here every week and I want save to go on holiday.
You know what?
She looked at me like Iād grown 2 heads!
Of course that NEVER happened! You just wouldnāt would you! Imagine!
You pay what the till tells you it is, donāt you!
Soā¦if you wouldnāt expect a multi million pound company to do it, why would you expect a small business to?????
Small business always give our customers the BEST price we can. We never overcharge as we know it's important to provide value for money, or our customers wouldn't return time and time again.
If I can offer you a discount I will tell you. There are times that I will go out of my way to help and will offer my service as cheap as possible, if someone has to visit family and can't afford pet care or someone has had an emergency and needs cover while in hospital but can't afford my service, I will consider if I can afford to give up my days, evenings and weekends to help and if I can, I will.
So PLEASE consider this when asking a small business to discount further than what they have quoted you. Their prices are set at a rate for a reason. You are supporting them and helping them pay their bills. Saving a couple of ££ from the CEO of a multimilion pound company is on another level to saving ££ from someone who is earning money, simply to pay their bills and buy their food.
As small businesses, we appreciate every single client and go out of our way to make sure they know that. We are also human and have a living to make. Most small business owners I know, put their heart and soul into their work, whether thatās selling bath bombs they made, crystals, cosmetics or providing a service that involves their time and being away from their own home for long periods. So, when someone asks for their product or services for less than they have quoted, or tell them they are overpriced for what they do, it can be soul destroying.
Always ask yourself, would YOU reduce your price? How much is your time worth and would you offer their service or product for the price you are offering?
Use local. Buy local. Buy with respect šš¼
