A neat trick if you want to change your drain plug washer with out draining the oil. I was surprised how well it worked.

I've been working on some nice old skool bikes recently. The XJR and KZ flat tracker both needed a full carb strip and clean, and the VFR had a fork service with emulators fitted and a starter gear/motor issue sorted.

Time to belt up. This is a job I haven't done in a long while; cam belts on a Ducati.

Silk purse from a sow's ear? This weeks project is turning a £450, 60k mile, '04 SV650 into a wet bike for the endurance team. First step was to make sure it ran which required removal of left over wiring from an old alarm and figuring out the starter relay was bad. Then engine out and pressure wash to remove a serious dirt build up. There's been the odd seized bolt, some of which snapped, an exhaust clamp that just fell apart, and lots of crud, but the fun really started when I began removing the swingarm and suspension linkage. The swingarm should not support itself when disconnected from the linkage and the link to frame bolt should not spin without coming out.

Carb clean. These '96 GSXR750 SRAD carbs have a few more hoses than average to deal with the ram air which, if the hose weren't there, would try to push air down the jets instead of sucking up fuel.

I finally tracked down the intermittent running issue with my track GSXR750. A previous owner had reused a pin in a connector for one of the spark plug coils but done a crap job. In the wrong position it would just disconnect and leave the engine on 3 cylinders.

Baffling! When they don't make an exhaust baffle the right size it's time to bust out the welder

Simply the best? This is a screwdriver for very small screws that I've had for years. Using it yesterday I noticed it's name. Banana for scale 😁
