H A P P Y F A T H E R ‘ S D A Y
To Daddy Cool(ey) himself.
Father to me, my sister Margaret and brother Gordon.
The Father and Founder of Gordon Cooley Coachbuilders Ltd.
Through hard work and an immense passion for cars at a young age, Gordon Cooley Coachbuilders was born in 1978.
My dad (panel be**er) rented his own premises, a four car garage on Graham St Barrhead where he employed a painter and an apprentice. But this wasn’t enough, sheer determination led him to move to bigger premises then eventually buy his own workshop in 1981 in Thornliebank Industrial Estate and we’ve been there ever since.
In the early days he secured work repairing and painting Coca Cola and Pepsi lorries for Corona Softdrinks in Thornliebank which was a MAJOR achievement.
Fast forward 41 whole years and we’re now the only BSI Kitemarked garage in East Renfrewshire Council repairing vehicles for some of the countries biggest front line companies including BT, Royal Mail, Balfour Beatty, Babcock, East Renfrewshire Council as well as serving our local community.
The recognition we get in our trade is absolutely amazing all because of what my dad created.
People look at me and say ‘You are so like your mum’ then people work with me and say ‘Jeezo, you’re just like your dad’ lol
Regardless, I am who I am today because of the strong characters in my life, my dad being one of them.
So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you dad, my amigo, for teaching me, guiding me and trusting me with our family business.
You are one of my biggest supporters in life and for that I am truly blessed. Happy Father’s Day, have the best day you deserve, love you so much ###
