Safe driving is not about having good eyesight
It is about knowing where to look and what to look for

A good driver is constantly using six “eyes” at the same time

Most drivers use two eyes

Good drivers use all six

That is the difference between reacting to danger and seeing it before it happens.

23 years ago today I passed my Part 3 exam to become a fully qualified instructor. A year later Elliotts School of Motoring was formed. I loved it then and I still love it now.
I can honestly say I have something I enjoy doing that I’m lucky enough to get paid for. Of course it wouldn’t be possible without all my lovely students and their test passes and their recommendations over the years. Thank you all 🫶

An update on changes to the driving test which come into effect from 24th November 2025.

It will not actually affect individual candidates much, if they are test ready the changes will barely be noticeable 🚙🚗

Following a successful 5-month trial, DVSA is rolling out some subtle changes to the practical driving test.

So this is me for the next 2 months or so! I decided to try and relive my youth and went roller skating as I used to be an ace roller skater years ago. 2 broken bones and a dislocated ankle later - I think the roller skates won this time!

😘 Thank you to my dance group friends who were with me at the time and got me sorted with first aid and paramedics.
😘 Thank you to my daughter who was an absolute diamond and drove me to hospital and stayed with me throughout.
😘 Thank you to my family who are letting me put my feet up and watch loads of Netflix while they keep me supplied with food and drink and do everything around me.
😘 Thank you to my students for being so understanding about me cancelling lessons, a lot of which been very loyal and have decided to just wait till I can come back to resume lessons.
😘 Thank you to my lovely instructor friends who have made space at short notice and taken on my students who understandably can’t wait as they have tests booked and a schedule to keep to.
😘 Thank you to the wonderful NHS for putting me back together again
😘 Thank you to everyone for all the kind thoughts and messages, Netflix suggestions and visits planned.

In short, and in no particular order - I have a lot to be grateful. Keep safe everyone 🚙🚗

Super proud of 2024!

20 tests taken
17 passes
15 of those passed on 1st attempt, 2 on their 2nd attempt.

Thank you to all my students, past and current, for your custom and your loyalty and to everyone that recommendeds me.
Because of you my business keeps going - nearly 22 years and still going strong.

The faithful Bluey has now gone and I have Grey to start the new year with 🚗🚙

Here’s to the end of 2024 and I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2025.
