Well done Ellie!

A fantastic 1st TIME ZERO FAULT PASS!

Same as older brother Billy last year & both of you did it in just 3 months. It was also at the test centre with the second lowest historical pass rate in the UK

What a great achievement for you both. 🙂👍

Are you ready for your driving test?

As driving instructors we can only advise people about their readiness to take a test!

You may think you are driving well & test ready but are you when the instructor is:

Telling you when to change gear!

Reminding you to go back into 1st gear every time you stop so you can move off again without stalling!

Asking you what the speed limit is!

Talking you through every manoeuvre!

Reminding you to look behind you whilst you’re reversing!

Not planning ahead in good time.

Telling you which lane to be in!

Asking you why you stopped at the roundabout when it was empty or you had ample time to keep going?

Prompting you to not only look right at a roundabout to prevent you taking up both lanes & into the car behind or crashing into the traffic ahead that’s queuing at your exit!

Reminding you which exit to come off at on a roundabout because you forget!

Helping you when you can’t workout if there is enough space for you to get your car through!

Pointing out red lights at junctions & pedestrian crossings!

If all or any of the above apply to you, then you are not test ready!

When the door shuts and it’s just you and the examiner, the car is the loneliest place to be, when you make a mistake and your brain goes to mush it’s the worst feeling ever!

Remember those family and friends who urge you to “just have a go” for the experience, aren’t the ones having to go through it, people have very selective memory’s when it comes to driving and tests!
It’s also not their car that may be damaged.

Ask anyone who has failed a test if it was a nice experience!

Remember it’s YOU doing the test, no one else, no phone to google answers, no help from anyone else just YOU!

If you are up to standard, you will still be nervous, but you won’t be doubtful of your ability!

Go look in the mirror and have a straight talk with yourself!

This is a skill for life.
It saves YOUR life and another road users life.

The big question is.......

Would you take an A level if you hadn’t studied enough and then expect to pass it?

Thanks for reading. Have a serious think .....

Don’t get scammed!

Scammers are increasingly targeting drivers by pretending to be the DVLA.

They’re getting quite clever.

One fake text message.
One fake email.
One rushed click.
That is sometimes all it takes.

Messages about:
⚠️ Vehicle tax refunds
⚠️ Outstanding fines
⚠️ Licence problems
⚠️ Parking penalties
⚠️ Clean Air Zone payments
⚠️ Verification requests
⚠️ Driving test info

They are designed to create panic so you react quickly without thinking.

Some of these fake websites now look incredibly convincing.

That is exactly how people get caught out.

The DVLA has reported that almost 20,000 customers contacted them in 2024 regarding fraudulent activity.

Here are some important things every driver should know.

🛑 The DVLA will NEVER ask for your bank details by text or email.

🛑 Vehicle tax refunds are automatic. They do not arrive through random links.

🛑 Never click links in unexpected texts or emails claiming to be from DVLA.

🛑 Always go directly through GOV.UK yourself instead of following links sent to you.

🛑 Never post photos of your driving licence or V5C online. Those documents contain personal information scammers can use for identity fraud or vehicle cloning.

🛑 Be cautious of websites charging extra fees for simple DVLA services that are cheaper or free through GOV.UK.
