🚐 Vauxhall Vivaro 1.6 CDTi – Excessive Oil Consumption… Found & Fixed Properly

This Vivaro came in using far too much oil.
✔️ No external leaks
✔️ Cylinder compression & leak-down tests all good

So instead of guessing, we tested further.

🔍 We found:
• Excessive end float in the turbocharger
• A partially blocked crankcase breather

Result?
👉 Oil being pushed through the turbo.

Out with the old, in with the new — and when we say new, we mean new:
✔️ Brand new turbo (no remanufactured units — we’ve seen too many fail)
✔️ New OE gaskets & crankcase breather
✔️ Off-vehicle DPF clean while access was available
✔️ Fresh Shell Helix oil & OEM filter to protect the new turbo

2011 Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTI (A20DTH)

P2564 Turbo wastegate position sensor voltage low
P2002 DPF efficiency below threshold

This car has had faults for several months.
Up to now it’s had a DPF, Turbo, DPF pressure sensor, DPF Temp sensor & O2 sensor replaced.

It’s also been to a Vauxhall Main Dealer after these parts were fitted and had a software update.

The fault still persists, or does it, have the fault characteristics changed.

Is reading fault codes a diagnosis to a problem?

Customer complaint : Intermittent Crank No Start.

This video will hopefully prove that reading stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s) is by no way a diagnosis of fault.

Also DTC’s must not be used as a shopping list for parts.

Reading of fault codes is only one part of our 8 step diagnostic process to conclusively prove the cause of the customer complaint.

If you’re having issues with your vehicle get in touch, book it in but please don’t expect “the computer” to hold the answer to your issue.

Extensive testing is the key to a first time fix with minimal cost to yourself.

DPF Removal v DPF Repair

If you’re considering have your Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) removed and remapped you may want to watch the attached video from parliament in recent days.

The wheels are in motion with the powers that be to make the MOT test even more stringent regarding the performance of the DPF.

We as a business have never removed or deleted a DPF from a vehicle.

We have always opted to diagnose & repair the fault that is causing the DPF issue which is key to giving a long term fix to your DPF issue.

Refitting a DPF to vehicle that has previously had a removal or deletion performed is always far far more expensive than repairing the original fault.

Customer Complaint.

The car cut out on the road while driving.

When the car was recovered to us this is the only info we had.

The fault codes stored were all pointing to a fuel pressure fault.

On initial inspection we found the electric in tank fuel supply pump was not being switched on.

After consulting the manufacturers tech info we had a wiring diagram for this Korean 4x4

Armed with that info and performing some relevant tests we quickly identified that the cause of breakdown was down to either clutch or flywheel failure.

This diagnosis took about 2 hrs in total, we had no fault codes to suggest there was a problem with engine speed signal.

No parts were fitted during the Diagnostic process.

What is a diagnostic evaluation?

And what are you getting for your money?

🟢 Diagnosis starts with client consultation. We’ll gather relevant information about your vehicle.

🟢We’ll take a look at the vehicle with you to ensure our understanding of the fault is in line with yours.

🟢Tests will now be performed in a logical order. We’ll use serial data tools, oscilloscopes, and gauges to find the root cause of your fault.

🟢Technical bulletins are consulted. This often outlines known faults for your model, as well as software updates.

🟢System data will be analysed. Once anomalies are found we’ll identify the tests required to confirm the cause.

🟢Technical information is consulted so that a test plan can be constructed. Wiring diagrams are often used at this point.

🟢Using only the best equipment, we’ll interrogate all systems for permanent and sporadic faults.

🟢Finally, we’ll document our initial findings and call you with our analysis and recommendations.

But how much does all this cost?

The initial assessment will cost you only £96 but remember at this point no unnecessary or unneeded parts have been fitted based on stored fault codes.

If we fit a part and doesn’t solve the issue, we own the part. You will not be charged for that part.
