Polite public Notice about an MOT and its legal requirements and consequences of not having a valid test on your vehicle.

Driving without a valid MOT certificate can invalidate your car insurance, meaning you won't be covered for accidents, which can lead to unlimited fines, penalty points, or even a driving ban. Additionally, you cannot legally tax your vehicle without a current MOT, and driving it on public roads can result in fines, penalty points, and potential seizure by police.

What can be invalidated
Insurance: A valid MOT is a requirement for most insurance policies. Driving with an expired MOT can make your insurance void.

Road tax: You cannot renew your vehicle's annual road tax without a current MOT certificate.

Potential consequences
Fines: You can be fined up to £1,000 for driving without a valid MOT.

Penalty points: You may receive penalty points on your driving licence.

Vehicle seizure: Police can clamp or impound your vehicle if it is deemed unroadworthy due to the lack of an MOT.

Prosecution: Driving without a valid MOT is illegal, and you could face prosecution.

Personal liability: If you are in an accident, you could be personally responsible for all damages and repair costs, as your insurance will not cover them.

Exceptions
You can drive a car with an expired MOT to a pre-booked MOT test or to a pre-booked appointment for repairs

The dreaded wet belt delaminating and blocking all the oil ways, oil pump pick up tube blocked with belt debris too.

New belt kit, oil pump, oil pressure control valve, new sump and various seals and she was as good as new.

If you are having eco boost engine problems or Peugeot Citroen 1.0 litre and 1.2 problems. Do not worry we have done so many of these we have lost count.

Another timing belt failure causing catastrophic damage of the internals of the cylinder head.

Various new components and many hours rebuild the engine. Vehicle brought back to life.

Here we have a Land Rover 3.0 V6 diesel engine for a new timing belt and water pump.

Everything is registered on the Land Rover electronic service register the same as any main dealer.
