Yesterday, 64 passengers enjoyed a wonderful nine hour cruise from the stunning Anderton Boat Lift on the River Weaver, Cheshire to Canning Dock, Liverpool, a trip of Great interest and contrast.
Lots of planning and preparation goes into all trips but this one, with timings of the essence especially so.
Huge thanks to all our wonderful afloat and ashore and to Canal & River Trust Peel Ports , the ops teams, the pilots all for making a trip like this happen.
We will stay in Liverpool until Saturday 4th July when we sail to Ellesmere Port, tickets still available here: https://www.thedanny.co.uk/events
Monday is our big # event.
Thanks to Rebecca Parrot (Danny approaching Winnington bridge, Northwich, Jordan Rice (leaving Eastham) and Chris Triggs for the images of us arriving at Canning.

Tomorrow, on our 2nd trip of the day, we will be hosting the Inland Waterways Association (IWA) who are taking a trip with us to celebrate their 80th Anniversary since they were formed by Tom Rolt and Robert Aickman all those years ago.

The Inland Waterways Association will be holding its 80th Anniversary Event this Friday on the River Weaver.
This year marks eighty years of protecting, restoring and championing Britain's inland waterways. While it is acknowledged that there is still much to do, the afternoon cruise provides an opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved and to look ahead with pride to the future.
I W A members will celebrate the Association’s milestone aboard the iconic steamship S.S. Daniel Adamson, chosen for both its heritage and its living connection to waterway preservation today.

⚓ Cruise Update – Good News! ⚓
As many of you will have seen, the Canal & River Trust temporarily closed the River Weaver last weekend to vessels requiring bridge swings due to concerns over the exceptionally high temperatures. Unfortunately, this meant we had to cancel all of our sailings and remain at Anderton Boat Lift.

We're pleased to report that following successful bridge swing tests yesterday, the River Weaver has now reopened to navigation.

As a result, we do need to make a small change to this Saturday's planned cruise.
Instead of sailing from Sutton Weaver to Anderton Boat Lift, we'll now be operating a circular cruise from Anderton Boat Lift, turning at Acton Bridge before returning to Anderton Boat Lift. All passengers who have already booked have been contacted by email with details of the change.

There is some good news too! As the cruise will now both start and finish at Anderton Boat Lift, there's no need for a coach transfer. Simply park at Anderton Boat Lift and your car will be right there waiting for you when you return.

If you'd like to join us for a relaxing afternoon aboard The Danny, we'd love to welcome you on board. Tickets are still available: https://thedanny.digitickets.co.uk/event/27373390

*****IMPORTANT NOTICE*****
This weekends trips have all been cancelled.
See email below that has been sent to all cstomers who had booked on trips this Saturday, Sunday and BH Monday.

Dear passengers,

Late this afternoon, Canal & River Trust informed us that they are once again, closing the River Weaver to any river traffic requiring the bridges to be swung. They have advised that this is due to the extreme heat conditions. Their official closure notice wording is included below for your information.
The Met Office forecast for Frodsham & Acton Bridge shows temps of between 21-22 Degrees on Saturday and 23-24 Sunday. We do not require bridges on BH Monday.

We are absolutely devastated by this news.
This is such an important year for Danny’s financial survival, and we fully understand how disappointing and frustrating this cancellation will be for everyone affected.

Please accept our heartfelt apologies for the inconvenience and upset this will cause to your plans.

If you would like to request either a transfer to another date or a full refund, please reply directly to your email, at [email protected] and I will begin processing all requests over the weekend.
Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and continued support of Danny.
With sincere apologies,
Andrea & the Danny team.

Due to the current spell of hot weather, we are experiencing issues that are affecting the operation of swing bridges on the Weaver Navigation. High temperatures can impact bridge mechanisms, and for safety reasons we are temporarily unable to operate these bridges.
This restriction only affects boats that normally require a booking for the bridges to be swung. If your boat is able to safely travel under the bridges without them being swung, this notice does not affect you.
Our teams are monitoring conditions daily, carrying out regular temperature checks, and reviewing the situation closely. As soon as temperatures reduce and it is safe to do so, we will provide a further update and reopen the bridges for navigation.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to boating plans.

On this coming Bank Holiday Monday, we offer two cruises, a 90 minute out and back to Eastham Locks from Ellesmere Port and then a 4 hour trip to Sutton Weaver via Runcorn. Something for everyone's budget.

£25.00pp
https://thedanny.digitickets.co.uk/event/27369107
Ellesmere Port was founded in 1795 with the completion of the Ellesmere Canal, linking the River Mersey to the national canal network. Originally known as Whitby Wharf, it grew around docks designed by William Jessop and Thomas Telford, before becoming a major industrial centre following the opening of the Manchester Ship Canal in 1894.
Just northwest of our departure point lies Mount Manisty, a prominent man-made hill formed from excavated material during the construction of the Manchester Ship Canal between 1887 and 1894. Named after Edward Manisty, the contractor’s agent for the Eastham section, it stands between the canal and the River Mersey near Eastham.
From Mount Manisty, the route reaches the final straight of the Manchester Ship Canal, with Eastham Locks visible on the west bank. Passing several historic berths, including the former Crane Berth, ships once had their masts and funnels removed here to pass under bridges further inland. Today, these berths remain in use for lay-by, cargo handling, and ship bunkering. We turn before the locks and head back to our berth at Telford Quay.
Easy transport :
We recommend parking at the National Waterways Museum car park, which is free of charge. Easily accessible by train, with a nearby station. Please note that access to the Danny at Ellesmere Port is via a steep gangway, please bear this in mind when booking for your group.
Why not visit the Waterways Museum after your cruise?

Set sail on a delightful cruise from our berth just below the iconic Anderton Boat Lift, and enjoy a scenic journey along the River Weaver. We’ll cruise to our turning point at Acton Bridge via Saltersford Lock before gliding back to our starting point at Anderton.
A little history for our curious cruisers: the Anderton Boat Lift, opened in 1875, was built to transfer narrowboats a whopping 50ft between the River Weaver and the Trent & Mersey Canal. Nowadays, it mostly welcomes pleasure craft and stands as a scheduled monument and award-winning visitor attraction. While our boat is too big to ride the lift itself, you’ll enjoy fantastic views of this engineering marvel during the cruise.
