Lithium electrical systems have really transformed how we use our campers, and here at Vanguard, we’re the go-to experts in Scotland, mainly installing these systems over the past three years!

Here’s what Gordon had to say about his recent adventure in his VW T6….

"We were parked up at Knockan Crag, snug with the diesel heater. Just had curry and rice in the microwave and a vegetable samosa in the air fryer. This is the life! We stayed at Gairloch last night, using the diesel heater, microwave, fridge and left this morning at 11am with 69 per cent battery left. We drove to Ullapool and back to Inverness with 100 per cent battery life when we returned..."

"We headed out again on Saturday at 1pm and left at 10am Monday, still having 22 per cent battery left. The heater was on most of the time, along with the fridge, Nespresso coffee machine, air fryer and microwave. Oh, and the lights and kettle too" 😊😊😊

"We never even had the solar kick in. We had the air fryer going for 20 minutes both nights. Never thought we would do roast potatoes from scratch lol… living the dream completely off grid"…

There's nothing quite like the "final electrical checks" stage of a VW T6 build. " After all the blood, sweat, and cable crimping, seeing those battery monitors stabilise is the ultimate payoff...

It’s where a van stops being a project and starts being a home...

First build of 2026 for returning customers Gordon & Wendy…

Their new van will be gas-free, powered by a lithium off-grid system. This is perfect for those long weekends at festivals where you can enjoy the outdoors without needing to plug into shore power.

We’ll keep you in the loop with updates as the project progresses.

Alison & Robert brought their VWT6 in for an interior makeover...

They chose a Brand New Bed & storage system from RS - Romark - U shape camper seating.

We're really loving the U-Shaped seating frame - It's M1 certified and designed to be flexible, offering maximum comfort and storage. It's a fantastic option, available in different sizes to fit both SWB and LWB vehicles.

Quick Bed Conversion on Smooth runners allow the frame to convert from seating to sleeping in seconds!! Also comes with cup holders & USB points...👌

This week's conversion, Stunning VW T6 in Pearl Black...

It's got all the bells & whistles, including insulation, carpet lined, Altro flooring, LED lights and in the final stages for installing the Reimo Super-flat Pop-Top roof. It's almost ready to hit the road!

Steve & Lesley recently bought a brand new LWB Renault Trafic and they were super excited about their camper conversion...

They've been dreaming of a camper that'll take them on thrilling adventures, from hiking to refreshing cold water swims. They also asked for plenty of floor space for their furry friend, their beloved dog.

To make their camper truly special, they've opted for an off-grid Lithium charging system that can even power induction cooking and other electrical appliances. We also installed a diesel heating system for those chilly nights. For comfort, they chose a 3/4 bed system with easy-to-use ram struts. And to keep their belongings safe and secure, they've added multiple storage lockers, USB and USB-C charging points, led spotlights on a remote dimmer, and a foldaway table with side unit store.

We wish Steve & Lesley all the best on their vanlife Explorations & Adventure... :)
