When we closed the hire fleet we said it wasn’t the end of WildTrax. This is what we’re building. Every vehicle from a local operator who lives where you’re going.

One place to plan a road trip properly and hire the vehicle for it, direct from the operator who runs it. Scotland to start, and we’re signing up hosts to bring you more countries.

A decade in the Highlands taught us what makes a trip. The ride you do it in. The roads you drive. The memories you make. And the people who put it all together, because they know the place inside out.

The Land Rovers are up for sale. The photographs aren’t going anywhere.

Somewhere on your phone there’s a shot of one of ours on a road you’ll never forget. We’d love to see it.

Nine years, thousands of trips, and honestly most of the best pictures were never ours. They were yours.

Post it and tag us, or send it over. We’re putting together what those nine years actually looked like, and it was always your photos that told it best.

Thank you for an amazing journey!

This isn’t an easy one to write.

We’re closing WildTrax as you know it. All current bookings will be honoured in full, and after that our Land Rovers will be heading off to new owners and new adventures.

Since 2017 we’ve pioneered roof tent camping in the Highlands. We started WildTrax to share this place the way we love it best. Kitted-out Landys, log fires under the stars, no phone signal, just the road and whatever’s around the next corner. Watching people we’d never met head out and come back with that look in their eyes, the one that says “I’ve just had the best week of my life”, has been the whole point of all of this.

To everyone who hired with us, and especially those of you who came back year after year: thank you. Properly thank you. The photos, the stories, the muddy thank-yous when you handed the keys back. That’s what we’ll carry with us.

And we couldn’t have done any of it alone. To every partner who stood alongside us, to every film and TV producer who put our Landys on screen, and to every brand we’ve been lucky enough to work with: thank you. You made this so much more than a hire business.

Though the fleet is moving on, the Land Rover DNA isn’t. We’re reinvesting into Native Automotive, our Land Rover garage, so the love for these old workhorses stays right where it belongs.

And then there’s Lando. Our rescue pup, picked up in a WildTrax Defender, named after the truck that brought him home. Land Rovers live on, every day, on four paws. 🐾

We’re often asked about last-minute availability, so here’s a snapshot of what’s currently open. Classic Defender 90s and 110s are available across selected dates in April and May, offered as fully equipped camping setups or vehicle hire only.

Hire for a day, a long weekend or longer — completely flexible.

Current availability:

* 20 April – 1 May: Defender 90s & 110s
* 5 – 13 May: Defender 110s
* 6 – 15 May: Defender 90s
* 11 – 27 May: Defender 110s
* 20 – 28 May: Defender 90s

Whether it’s a spontaneous long weekend or a few days to properly switch off, this is one of the best times to explore the Highlands — longer days, quieter roads, and the landscape coming into its own.
