A fantastic day on Wednesday at the Mike Hawthorn Memorial Track Day at .

Tom was out on track in his Jaguar XJS race car, while Nigel continued to build valuable seat time in his Series 1 E-Type with coaching from Tom.

Wednesday marked a special milestone as Nigel experienced driving the iconic Goodwood circuit for the very first time – an occasion he thoroughly enjoyed!

As always, the event brought together an incredible variety of cars, from cherished classics to modern performance machinery, all sharing one of the world’s most historic circuits in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The quality of the cars on display was outstanding, and it was wonderful to see so many enthusiasts enjoying both the track action and the camaraderie that makes this event so special.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the day such a success.

We thoroughly enjoyed being part of it and well done to Mike Ballard, for putting on another fabulous track day experience.

Brilliant fun had ‘Brands Britannia’ over the May Bank Holiday Weekend with the

Tom was sharing the car this weekend with our very own JLR Technicians - , who made his debut at Donington Park in March.

For the Jaguar Championship races - they completed 1 each, Luke on Sunday & Tom on Monday, then for the Modern Classics race on Monday they entered as a 2 driver team.

The XJS was repaired following the ‘off’ at the .official Sprint course with behind the wheel. No time for paint, but the car was ready to go and on form.

Luke qualified 7th and had a good race working his way through the field and had good battle with Ieuan Spooner and finished 4th overall and 3rd in class

Tom had to start the XJS from the back of the grid on Monday’s race and he carved his way through the field to 4th place and had James Ramm in 3rd place in his sights. But unfortunately a fuelling issue developed and Tom had to retire.

With the fuelling issue sorted for the 40 minute modern classics race, the pair were optimistic having qualified, 5th overall, 2nd in class and the quickest Jaguar.

Tom had a great start and by Druids on the 1st lap was up to 2nd place, and would continue to hold position until the safety car came out 10 minutes into the race.

With the pit window open and the safety car taking cars through the pit lane to make track cleanup more efficient, Tom decided to hand the car over to Luke, but this was before the scheduled 20 minute switchover, meaning the pit stop took longer than planned.

Luke had a good stint despite the longer pit stop & unfortunate ‘stop go penalty’ for passing a car before the control line at the restart following the safety car.

They crossed the line 10th overall, still managed a spot on the podium finishing 3rd in class.

A great weekend, with all the Jaguar racing community in the paddock - even legendary Jaguar Racer came to support!

We’ve recently completed a full engine rebuild on this beautiful 1958 XK150 3.4 SE, powered by the legendary Jaguar XK straight six engine - one of the most celebrated British powerplants of its era.

The XK150 was the final evolution of the famous XK model line, following the XK120 and XK140. Its name reflected Jaguar’s performance pedigree, with the “150” referencing the car’s headline top speed in mph.

Introduced with improved comfort, sharper road manners, and more refined styling, it was also the first XK model to feature a one-piece curved windscreen and came with four-wheel disc brakes as standard which was impressive technology for the late 1950s.

The sought-after SE (Special Equipment) model added extra performance upgrades, making it an even more exciting grand tourer in its day.

Our rebuild included a full strip-down, detailed inspection, precision machining where required, replacement of worn components, and careful reassembly to exacting standards.

The result is smoother running, improved reliability, and that unmistakable straight-six soundtrack ready for many more miles.

Classic engines like these demand skill, patience, and attention to detail — and hearing them fire back into life is always a rewarding moment.

Great way to spend a Sunday at Bicester Heritage for their legendary ‘Scramble’ - first time attending the event and easy to see why it is so popular and has such a following.

Took the E-type and got stuck in…great to see such a variety of cars, people, and all the different businesses trading from this wonderful site.

Bumped into friends - old and new including my old Aston Martin DB7, which was good to see.

Looking forward to the next one already!

Tom has just picked up his first Porsche - a 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera 2S (997) manual - and it’s a definite change from the Jaguars he’s used to.

It’ll be interesting to compare it to cars of the same era, especially the Jaguar XKR (X100). The Jag’s 4.2 supercharged V8 delivers around 400hp and effortless pace, with 0–60 mph in 5 seconds — but always with that smooth, refined grand touring feel.

The 911 takes a different route: 3.8 flat-six, 355hp, 0–60 mph in 4.6 seconds, and a top speed north of 180 mph. Lighter, more compact, and far more focused - especially with a manual - it’s all about driver involvement.

Interestingly, when Top Gear put the X100 XKR, BMW 6 series , and a 911 (appreciate it was a 996) the Jag actually came out on top — a reminder of just how capable these cars were in period.

Back in the mid-2000s, this was the choice: effortless speed and comfort from a Jag, or the sharper, more engaging drive of a 911.

Looking forward to living with it — and putting a few miles (and road trips) on it!
